on my way to the races and needing some nourishment, saw this place perched up on a hill and figured with a name like Pal 's... so I made my way up to the window, took a quick look at the menu and went with a big pal, fries, and a coke not a combo because they don 't do that here, menu is ala carte. place your order on this side then drive around to pay and get your food on the other... kinda makes sense sort of in an odd sort of way 'cause you get to talk to a real person both times and I guess that counts for something.so I get my stuff and look for a small patch of shade and consume nearly all my fries in transit (go figure) got parked and tuck in to a surprisingly well constructed burger...
While I enjoyed my meal, I couldn't help but be fascinated as I watched car after car pull into the lot, circle the building to place their orders at one window, then move around to the other side to pick up their food. Many parked in a few available spots, while others just drove off. They efficiently processed order after order, but their menu is quite limited.
The Double Big Pal burger and hotdog I tried had a taste reminiscent of cafeteria food from my school days—it’s edible but not something you’d rave about or brag about having for lunch. Today was my first visit to Pal's in Abingdon, VA, and it was an incredible experience! The burger was outstanding, and the fries were bursting with flavor. While the food was fantastic, the service truly stood out. Despite the long line wrapping around the building, we were served in about 5 minutes! If this had been McDonald's, we would have been waiting for at least another 20 minutes. With such quick service and delicious food, this place definitely deserves a 5-star rating!
I'm not really a fan of fast food in general. We've visited this place three or four times, but I'm not impressed. While the food is filling and appears fresh, it just doesn't resonate with me. That said, it does seem quite popular, as they're always busy! It's quick and satisfying, but I guess it's just not for me.

The Sauce Burger is basically a meat patty with a ketchup type sauce on a bun. The fries were good. The service was very fast and friendly. If I go back I'll try a different sandwich.
So fun : Really, really fast service. Food was hot and fresh. It is fast food, but if want a burger and fries...this is what you want. The building was so cute and clean.
This is ONLY DRIVE-THRU despite the Google info. It’s fast-food. It’s fine. Hubby really liked the orange shake. He said it’s like an orange push-up.
Quick device and excellent quality. I think the hot dog and burgers are the way to go.
