In most cases, it's not my first go-to when I'm thinking of a quick place to eat or even for a dine-in meal. But it's not necessarily because of anything I like or dislike about Panera. I'll happily agree that they have some very good options and can prepare a thoroughly satisfying meal, however, my reason for the 4 stars is mainly because not one of the many Paneras that is out there serves everything they claim to. It's almost impossible finding things like lobster bisque or even the clam chowder and I'm a huge soup enthusiast (excuse the term). So if you're looking for something that you found at your local grocer, chances are they're not gonna have it available at the local Panera.
This restaurant is not recommended. I waited over 20 minutes in the drive-thru multiple times, even when there were only one or two cars ahead of me. The older man who seemed to be the manager did not communicate effectively with his team. I received the wrong order which was cold, despite being charged for a coffee that should have been free with my subscription. After waiting another 10 minutes for the correct order, I tried to communicate the issue with the manager but another worker came to the window asking the same thing. I had to leave without resolving the issue. Overall, the experience was frustrating and confusing.
I was disappointed with my order of half Mac and cheese and half Caesar salad at this restaurant. The salad had wilted pieces and I never received the bread that was supposed to come with it. This was the first time I had not been fully satisfied with my meal from here, although in general they are usually very good. It's possible they were trying to conserve ingredients. Despite this experience, I still love Panera and would recommend it to others.
While I generally like this location and they are normally well staffed and wait times are pretty low, today was just terrible. Came in a littler earlier to avoid the lunch rush. Waited over 30 minutes for our dine in order. Drive thru and online orderswere getting preference over those who decided to dine in. They also appeared to be very understaffed today. I want to thank Panera of Wallingford for their incredible customer service today. We placed a large order for Rapid pick-up and specified that the person picking up is an amputee. The staff at Panera went above and beyond to show their compassion and assistance. Thank you so much!
