Last Saturday my Tassie girlfriend organised a special treat for my birthday. Tasmania is my holiday destination of choice I just love the place and now there is yet another reason to keep going there! Patanella Cafe is quirky, retro, warm and inviting...for brekky, brunch, lunch AND..... Mamma Rosa's Masta Pasta Classes!! The best night of us crowded into the cafe that was set up for a gnocchi making class. OMG the laughs started as soon as we got there we sat around laminate tables with BYO wine while Mamma Rosa(her eyebrow is brilliant!)created gnocchi from scratch and inviting us up to help and then WE made Brucchetta with tomato and basil. Throughout this she breaks into song and runs a...

Patanella is quirky, eclectic, bustling, comfortable, welcoming and delicious. We go regularly for breakfast/brunch and always enjoy everything we eat and drink. Rose has great intuition and knows when customers need space to talk or think, but she's ready with a joke or a conversation...or a listening ear whenever needed. I'm making her sound like a therapist ... which probably isn't a bad thing we leave Patanella feeling replenished and rested and happy every time we go there. It has an extensive menu which caters for all tastes, hot chocolate with real ganache, a delicious chai, excellent coffee, and an assortment of the most amazing treats (muffins, choc-coconut bars, nougat bars, almond...

We started with a dish of shared white anchovies wrapped in sage leaves, lightly breaded and served with warm bread, olive oil, and balsamic vinegar. They were absolutely delicious. Next, we enjoyed a light and tasty homemade pasta dish with pancetta, dressed with oil and a subtle hint of chili, served on a bed of rocket. The flavors were classic and simple Italian. For dessert, we shared an amazing light and fluffy ricotta cheesecake that was like heaven on a plate, paired perfectly with excellent coffee. The dishes showcased the beauty of good Italian food with their simplicity and minimal ingredients.

Yes this place has eclectic decor and decent coff, but the breakfast menu is a TOTAL RIPOFF. I don't care how many cute knickknacks have gone into creating an alternative hipster venue, for a brioche with bacon is taking the proverbial. Three people, breakfast...and coffees at almost is a joke! This venue relies on social media to be its voice,so we think it is time to sound out a buyer beware Only eat here for breaky if getting gouged is your thing, otherwise steer well clear. Patanella is my regular go-to for a coffee and a quick bite after school drop-off, and it always hits the spot! Great coffee and lovely freshly-prepared meals and snacks in a lovely homey atmosphere decorated with family photos and quirky knick-knacks. My personal favourite meal...is the wog breakfast but everything I've ever had there has been great. Proprieter Rosa's associate Mamma Rosa, also runs hilarious pasta-making classes and tombola evenings.

this is the second time that we eat here and eat here is really delicious! the service is also fast and friendly. this caffe is cozy and has a retro feeling. eating is as good and as good as to. a chic, expensive restaurant in the city. the gnocchi was my favorite and the best I had in a very long time. we will definitely come back! I highly recommend this place.

We were recommended this place for breakfast. I ordered the roast vegetable breakfast and my husband had the brioche with haloumi. I was surprised that the brioche was a bun instead of toast, but it was tasty. The restaurant was filled with families with young children, but it wasn't too noisy. The woman serving us was very friendly.

I recently visited a charming café in North Hobart called In Drops for Coffee and I absolutely loved it. The owner was very helpful and went through all their available options with us. We decided to try the Yoyo with Rhubarb Creme and it was absolutely delicious. I highly recommend a visit to this quirky café. Réservez une table maintenant
