I ate at Veranda a few weeks ago while on vacation and if you know anything about my home state of Rhode Island, it's that we are home to Johnson Wales University(JWU) and their culinary program and that we have an internationally renowned food scene. I recently had the pleasure of dining at Pia's Trattoria, and I must say, it was a delightful experience from start to finish. The bread served with dipping oil was incredibly fresh, and the sauce was a delightful blend of sundried tomatoes, pesto, garlic, and Parmesan cheese, earning a solid 8.6 for this appetizer! The real star of the show, however, was the Pinsa Pizzette. Its phenomenal flavor profile was both light and packed with taste, and the addition of hot honey was a stroke of genius. This was one of the last stops on my tour de Italian food in Tampa Bay. Between the food, service, ambiance, price, location, and overall experience, Pia's scores #1! We truly had a fabulous experience. We had a large party of 13, but that did not impact the timeliness or quality of service. My glass was never empty and the food came out quickly. We dined at the restaurant to the left of their main building, so I'm unsure about the atmosphere at the main location. The food was outstanding; I had the veal parmigiana while my wife opted for the veal Marcella. However, it's worth noting that neither dish came with a salad, just three asparagus stems. When I requested some bread, I was surprised to be charged an additional $6 for half a loaf. My wife also asked for a small dish of red sauce, which cost another $3. Our entrée prices were $35 each, and with the tip, our total came to $111. While I don't mind spending that amount on a meal, the ambiance didn't match the price point. We came here a while back and had a great experience. They were so accommodating for gluten allergies and our server was so friendly. Our friend got a four cheese gluten free pasta and was reassured that the kitchen takes gluten free allergies seriously, which was really comforting. Her pasta was delicious and she said she would love to come back here. My girlfriend got a pasta that had squid ink in it and she said it was incredible. Now, let's talk about the bread! I wasn’t expecting it to be such a standout. It was soft and incredibly flavorful, making it well worth the extra cost for adding two loaves to our table. Honestly, I might return just for the bread alone. We were a party of ten, and the service was impeccable from start to finish. Walked in at 5:30 on a Saturday and got an outdoor table someone must have canceled. Lucky! I tried: Strawberry basil martini Sicilian martini Bruschetta Lasagna Eggplant parmigiana Pesto verde penne Potatoes and haricots verts Sour orange cake The martinis were fantastic (especially the Sicilian). Best dish was the eggplant parm, hands down. Bruschetta and lasagna were also great. Only miss was the pesto penne, which was overcooked. Note that they're no longer doing the wine discount upon Yelp check in (at least when I visited in March 2024). This is prob the best restaurant in Gulfport, and it is crowded every night of the week, so plan ahead!

A charming trattoria in the heart of Gulfport! The food, service, and ambiance all deserve a 5 star rating. I enjoyed the pesto verde with a glass of wine. It was light and fresh, with a subtle pesto flavor. The food is very authentic. There is ample seating, indoors and outdoors. Great for large parties or a family gathering. Have a glass of wine and you will feel as if you were transported to Italy. I am not in Gulfport often, but I would definitely come back for Pia's! Réservez une table maintenant

This is the best Italian food we've ever experienced. The service and wine were excellent too! Be sure to try the lasagna or the eggplant!
