Pictou Lodge Beachfront Resort

The restaurant at Pictou Lodge is 100% spectacular. Dinner started with a complimentary yellow fin tuna tartare with avocado and a spicy mayonnaise. We then had some of the best mussels we have ever had; cooked in a Caldera Whiskey and honey broth - wow! The entree courses were perfectly. I had the cooked pan seared duck breast with roasted asparagus and carrots and wild rice My fiancé had the confit chicken and mushroom with bacon tossed with tagliatelle pasta in white wine garlic cream sauce.For Dessert we shared deep fried apple pie with salted caramel, spicy pecans and vanilla ice cream. PLBR was recommended to us by the host at our B&B down the road. We were seated next to a window overlooking the ocean without reservations. Server was a tremendously friendly and knowledgable young woman who made the meal and extra pleasure. I had cedar-planked salmon and my wife had the halibut; both were excellent. Shared a flight of Nova Scotia white wines recommended by our server which were delightful. Desserts were memorable, too... creme brule for my wife, and I had the deep-friend apple pie with ice cream. Topped it off with a sample of the local whisky, Caldera.

Even though we didn't stay at the lodge, we had a great lunch at the restaurant. Our server was very friendly and attentive. The dining area was large and had lots of spots that overlooked the water. On Sundays they offer a brunch menu.We started with a butter biscuit and molasses butter- which was delicious.The special was a haddock wrap with dill. It was very flavourful. We upgraded to sweet potato fries which were tasty. My partner got a side arugula salad which was fresh and tasty.We would definitely recommend this lunch and return ourselves!

We went to the Lodge with a recommendation, and although I can say nothing bad about the food, the lobster was fresh, the crab cakes were tasting, and the molasses butter was our high-light, the butter shouldn't really be the show stealer. The Service was excellent and attentive, and the price was expected. I guess we were expecting something a little more high end, because of its reputation. We'll go again when we return as we always like to give places a second chance. Réservez une table maintenant

A very beautiful location. Ocean Views surround the entire resort. Excellent service and food alright. Biscuits with molasses at the beginning are great. Seafood was all a bit dried out in our meals. Overall a beautiful spot. Fun for kids to run around the resort before and after. Food is average.

Have been here for brunch a few times. Beautiful spot. Great brunch. Food is always awsome for brunch. We always make a reservation to be sure we get a table. If you are in the area treat yourself . We have a cottage in the are and come at least 3-4 times a summer.

Stopped for Lunch on the way to Cape Bretton. The lodge is a little ways outside of town, but worth the drive. Classic old lodge with a dining room overlooking the beach. Menu and food were excellent, prices reasonable and the service GREAT!

Stayed in nearby Pictou and came for dinner. Halibut catch of the day was excellent. Crab cakes were enjoyed as well as awesome chocolate torte for splitting. Flight of tidal bay wines was great too. Réservez une table maintenant

We ate in the casual dining room and both thoroughly enjoyed our meals. Lobster mac'n'cheese and fish & chips in the eveining. Breakfast was also very good.

We ate in the grill. The food was good, but not spectacular. A very pretty "lodgelike" setting with nice seating in front of the fireplace.
