Pizza Bella Roma is a Fremantle institution; I still recall coming here with my family, as a kid, for Sunday lunch with our grandparents. But as I grew older I stopped going; grabbing bites are more 'trendy' cafes in Fremantle area but this weekend my sister and I took a trip of nostalgia and returned. Incredibly disappointing. The garlic bread was coated and toasted on only 1 side, the pizza was completely without flavour apart from the anchovies and tasted bland and rubbery, the spaghetti bolognese was devoid of taste and swimming in pasta water, the carbonara lacked any sense of flavouring, the lemon lime and bitters came from a bottle!
Needless to say I was extremely unhappy. 1 bite of the mains and we decided to pay the bill and leave. When asked if I enjoyed the meal I replied 'maybe next time' ... to which the hostess said, 'great'.
Guys.... listen to your patrons, be mindful of their plates and how much they have eaten or not, do not assume that everyone is happy and certainly do...

Maybe the best Spaghetti Carbonara I have had!
If I'm in Freo and in the mood for some good Italian I can't go past Pizza Bella Roma! It's not fine dining but super casual just how I like it. Everything is always prepared well and priced reasonably, the staff are fantastic and not obtrusive.
The Spag Carbonara is to die for, be sure to order some bread to dip into the sauce! (Trust me!!)
If I had to pick I guess the restaurant could use some modernisation, at the same time I hope It never changes. Will always return.

Spaghetti Carbonara was plain terrible.
Garlic bread ....on one side only...dry and unappetizing
Pizza ...I'm not sure what the reviews are about - one of the worst I've been served.
Went next door and reordered the Carbonara.....
In Fremantle last weekend for a mid-afternoon event we were searching for a quick, light lunch to fortify us for the festivities ahead, so on to South
OK but not outstanding. The pizzas on the raised trays do look impressive but I'm always surprised by the queue to dine here. Each to their own?

I've been eating at Pizza Bella Roma on and off for more than 25 yearsIt's changed hands a few times, altered it's menu and had lots staff.
Three of us were in search of some Italian food, and you don't need to look far on the South Tce strip in Freo to find it.
