I hadn't visited this restaurant in a few years, and I'm pleased to say it's still quite good overall. They continue to offer a diverse menu. I tried the Steak Picado with rice and beans, which had a generous portion of meat without an overload of onions and bell peppers. You can always enhance the flavor by adding more of the pepper provided on your table. It's often said that the quality of a Mexican restaurant can be judged by its chips and salsa, and I found theirs to be nearly perfect. The chips were thin, warm, and crispy. I'm not sure if the salsa was homemade or from a can, but it had a nice, mild kick and was definitely better than what many other restaurants serve, which often use...
I ordered the Fish Tacos platter along with the chicken enchiladas platter, both served with beans and rice. Everything was delicious! The atmosphere was nice, with good air conditioning and music that you can enjoy. The prices are affordable and the menu offers a great variety. They also have a selection of cocktails. There are dining booths available for a cozy experience, and there’s a parking lot with wheelchair accessibility. The restaurant is located in Montebello, across from the former Beverly Hospital on Beverly Blvd, right next to El Pescador. It’s definitely another excellent spot to visit. I’ll be coming back! Great cozy Mexican restaurant! It may have a slightly outdated vibe, but that actually adds to its charm as a hidden gem. I like to think of myself as a connoisseur of Caldo De Cameron, and I can say that you can find a decent seafood bowl here. The waitstaff is very friendly, and the seating is in booths. They also offer catering if you need it for an event or party. I've been coming here for about seven years now, and I'm writing this review after yet another enjoyable visit to this establishment.
The food here is consistently excellent, and I've never had an issue with my orders. The staff is very helpful and always has a smile on their face. I would give a 5-star rating, but since I've only ordered to-go and haven't had the chance to dine in, I can't yet. This is a cozy, family-owned restaurant that's perfect for a homemade meal. I really enjoy their enmoladas, caldo de res, albondigas, and chile colorado. We've met the owner before, and she's very kind and attentive. The staff is also exceptionally friendly. This will definitely be a regular spot for my family and me. I used to come here a lot. About 8-10 years ago this was one of my favorite spots and I would be here often because I lived close by. I went recently after about 6-7 years. The food is decent but not exceptional. Reasonably priced and it’s a cool little hole in the wall. Decent but not great. Give it a 7/10 overall. Potatoes were not fully cooked and beans were plain.
I don't know, maybe I just had bad luck or the chef was having an off day, but the burrito was so unappetizing that I couldn't finish it. The tacos weren't any better either; they lacked flavor and the vegetables weren't fresh. Honestly, this was the worst Mexican food I've had in LA.
