We had a wonderful time today but only have one critique. We paid $35 for a prawn pizza but there were zero prawn’s actually on the pizza. These were all still very small shrimps and while the pizza was very tasty, it is a bit exploitative and misleading to say its a prawn pizza and charge us for the larger prawns but have zero prawns on the actual pizza. Our server/bartender was very kind but I am feeling really put off by this. This is the second restaurant so far we have gone to in santa cruz that advertises and charges for prawns but doesn’t actually serve prawns. These shrimps were 1 inch in size. Prawns are 3 inch or larger in size. Food and drinks were great otherwise.
During our visit to Santa Cruz, we decided to dine at East Side Eatery for their gluten-free choices. We were pleasantly surprised by the quality of their gluten-free menu and offerings. Unlike most restaurants that offer gluten-free options as an afterthought, East Side Eatery goes above and beyond with homemade gluten-free ciabatta-style bread for their burgers and incredibly delicious gluten-free pizza. The food was fresh, made with high-quality (local) ingredients, and served with excellent service from a knowledgeable and friendly server. This was one of the best dining experiences we've had. We have now been here a handful of times and we will honestly be visiting more often at this point. The food is great and the staff hustles and really takes care of you when you are here. We are always impressed after eating here and are very happy with the food. Good food can sometimes be hard to find in Santa Cruz and this is one place that consistently delivers great food service.
I've been a long time patron of the ESE wanted to share that in recent visits, the food, drinks and service just continue to improve! The upgraded bar drink selection is fantastic (Skinny margarita with tajin rim is my fave), best wings in town and their burgers never disappoint! The outdoor seating is divine on a warm summer evening.....

Awesome selection of Whiskey, great service and the food is great too! A must-see destination for whiskey lovers. Derrick was awesome to chat with and gave us some excellent recommendations. Traveled all the way from PA to try and will be back again if we ever have the opportunity.
They won several awards for their Chowder. It was my first time with a Manhattan Chowder. It was very good had a kick, but next time I will go with the classic Boston Chowder. Their nachos were good, staff is nice, cool area next to many other shops. Nicely busy for a Monday
I was pleasantly surprised by how light the pizza was, and the server had a sassy but fun attitude. Despite the crowded restaurant, they quickly found a table for us. Overall, it was a good experience.

Speedy, cordial, outstanding service. Burger and chowder on point. Have to try more stuff on the menu to see why the rating isn't higher.
This is my absolute favorite place to eat... nothing ever disappoints.
