Such a terrible dining experience. We arrived on time for our 7:15 reservation for two people. First round of drinks didn't arrive to our table until 7:52. The restaurant wasn't busy at all. Maybe a total of 4 tables in the entire restaurant, and a second server was working. All night we kept having to remind our server of things we ordered because he kept coming back to the table empty handed, or just standing and staring at us from a distance. There was only two of us, it wasn't like we had a giant table full of people. Server told us that this was the last night of dinner service because the restaurant is permanently closing for dinner. We dined here for the first time tonight and absolutely enjoyed every aspect of our experience. We ordered the bread board, the Wagyu steak dinner, turkey and polenta ravioli, and for dessert, we had the s’more! Everything was exceptional from start to finish, bursting with flavor. We really appreciated the complimentary taster and drink at the beginning of our meal. The staff were all incredibly friendly and knowledgeable. In my opinion, this is the best restaurant in Grand Rapids by far. We only wish we had discovered it sooner. We can’t wait to return!
I had the worst service I've ever encountered at this restaurant. Our group of three couples had all of our drink orders mixed up, and the drinks that arrived were intended for another table. Ironically, that table was also having a terrible experience, and by the end, everyone agreed they wouldn't return. It was so bad that the bartender had to come over to ask what we needed. When it came to the checks, they were completely inaccurate, but we decided not to ask for corrections since everything was moving so slowly and we just wanted to leave.
My friends and I were excited to try this place, but unfortunately it was disappointing. We waited about 15 minutes for our drinks and it was not busy. When we ordered food, we were told they were out of flatbreads, shrimp, vegan reuben, and a few other items, so half the menu. We all got the asparagus Caesar salad because we didn't have many options. It consisted of a few asparagus and 2 slices of bread, no actual lettuce. The ambiance is great, just wish we were warned they were out of half the menu before being seated.

I used to be a frequent consumer of Portico. USED TO BE, being the key word. I was in town for business this week and gave them 3 tries, each day I stopped in for dinner giving them the benefit of the doubt that the kitchen was having a bad day but unfortunately this level of service, or lack there of, appears to be the new norm.
Went to Portico for Valentines Day. We both loved it everything about the experience was authentic and unique. Food was excellent and so was the entire staff and ambiance. Portico is a must visit when in GR!
I had lizzy as my server and she was so amazing! She was very helpful and charming and made me feel right at home. Wonderful food and awesome atmosphere, highly recommend dining here!
I had a fantastic experience at Portico! The lunch was excellent, and the service was spot-on. Overall, the atmosphere was very pleasant. I highly recommend giving it a try!

Stumbled in here one day after a night on the town and was shocked at how amazing this place was! As a GR native I had never heard of it. It deserves more attention!
Amazing food and beautiful ombiance. Really sweet waiter was very patient with our ESL friends.
