"Fair room in general, bed fairly comfy but bed base moved around a lot whilst I was on it. Paintwork peeling, no WiFi or mobile signal to dream of in room, no food available at 11am when I checked out. Power shower was anything but powerful."

This is a great place to stay if you like escape rooms because everything about it seems like a problem solving exercise. The first puzzle was finding it. It was midnight, pitch black and we couldn 't work out where on earth we were supposed to be going. We drove between junction 24 and 23 twice and went around the South Mimms roundabout at least 4 times before spotting the tiny signpost that just said 'hotel ' rather than Premier Inn. I couldn 't work out whether that was because they wanted me to feel better about my stay (by making it feel like the Savoy was just around the corner), or worse (by not naming the hotel chain in case I got embarrassed). Plenty of parking, especially disability parking, the parking was cheap compared to most hotels. Staff were friendly, breakfast was very good, plenty of food and no waiting for the chef to do more, kept topping up regularly. Main meals were quite good quality but not a lot of food on the plate. We went to The Old Guinea pub for a meal not far from the hotel and the price was the same but there was more food on the plate and good quality, also more variety of food. Me and my wife visited London and thought we would stay the night on the outskirts to make things easier heading home. We checked in late 11:30pm) the service was cold and the rooms were terrible. The bathroom was tight to get in which wasnt ideal for my pregnant wife, the kettle would spit out the boiling hot water and wouldn't switch off once it's reached boiling temperature. Paint was flaking off the bathroom door frame, and the bed sheets were disgusting, they were stained blue for some reason due to the time we had got to the hotel we only realised about the bed sheets in the morning. Wasn’t expecting greatness but was pleasantly surprised. Found somewhere to get a haircut right next to the hotel (Hair Bus). And there’s a nice country park around the back so you can properly switch off from driving. Finally the service area is only a short walk away (or the scenic long way around via the same country park) if you want something fancier than the truck stop supermarket next door. Food in the hotel is okay in the evening, and the breakfast buffet excellent as that’s what Premier Inn is known for. Friendly service. Terrible stay, dated hotel, small rooms, rubbish showers, staff very friendly but not good. Service extremely slow, not enough glasses on the bar, not able to get a table for dinner for 4 people. When we did get a table it took 90 mins to get served. Hotel manageress was extremely rude when our room reservation was messed up Rooms never cleaned despite being there over a week. Car park is not secure with people breaking into cars and lurking about late at night. Shoddy.
The lady on reception seemed to be quite annoyed that I wanted to pay in cash for my stay. My steak that I had with my meal was cooked perfectly however another member of my party had the mozzarella starter which is meant to come as a portion of five, but they only received four, which is pretty tight considering the price. The room was clean, the bed was comfy, and I slept well in the room which was in the 200's.
I’ve been to Premier Inn before a few times so I am aware of the standard. This Premier Inn is not quite up to the usual standard but it is okay for one night. There was a long walk to the rooms. You had to park your car at the back then walk all the way to reception then all the way back to your room. The room was a bit smaller than the usual rooms. Other than that it was okay.
For a budget hotel this was very good. Good clean, comfortable rooms with all the necessary facilities. Breakfast was good, plenty of seating and the buffet was restocked in a timely fashion. The only disappointment for us was that the bar seemed to close a little early on the Saturday evening. We will certainly come back if we need to stay in the area again. Réservez une table maintenant
Friendly greeting on check in at reception quickly served and allocated my room ,which was good size and with air conditioning nice and clean Breakfast was buffet style good choice cereals,fruits,yougurts,pastries+full english cooked which was lovely plenty of fruit juices+ tea/coffee ,plenty of seating areas.
