As a student pursuing my second master's degree at Rutgers, I have also obtained my first master's degree from this university. I must say, the fat sandwiches and gyro/chicken platters at this restaurant are incredibly tasty. The owner of the restaurant is a wonderful person and I am happy to support their business. With New Brunswick being so culturally diverse when it comes to food, I always enjoy trying dishes from various parts of the world. It was a unique experience to hear Middle Eastern music playing in the background while dining at this restaurant.
This restaurant reminds me of my husband's college days, in a good way. We visited with our children and enjoyed vegetarian options, classic sandwiches, and "fat cats." I had my first fat cat at a grease truck years ago when we were newlyweds, and it was just as delicious as I remembered. While the atmosphere isn't exactly like a grease truck, there is information about the Rutgers tradition. The food is plentiful, satisfying, and nostalgic. I can imagine this being the perfect lunch for college students.
Good times here. Great sandwiches, but they do up-charge for credit/debit card use which to me is odd in today's times. Also once I was yelled at by a staff member for taking a fork for my sandwich, which I thought was odd because they're usually well filled so things do fall out, and I have the right to eat as I want. But overall I still give it a high rating because the sandwiches are very good.
I ordered the mozzarella sticks with marinara sauce special, along with an oreo shake, a brownie, and curly fries. The shake was delicious, but I didn't receive the brownie I ordered - instead, I got a chocolate cake. The curly fries were decent, but the sandwich was terrible. The mozzarella sticks were soft and not crispy, and the marinara sauce was not good.

R U Hungry is a great place to go if you want two meals for the price of one or are simply incredibly hungry. Home of the fat sandwich, this place completely lives up to the mental image that a place known as 'home of the fat sandwich ' brings to mind. There are healthy options, but they 're probably not worth your time. Would highly recommend.
I recently tried these sandwiches for the first time and they were incredible. They were like a complete meal between two slices of bread, including an appetizer. I ordered the Fat Vastardi which had gyro meat, chicken fingers, mozzarella sticks, French fries, lettuce, tomato, tzaziki sauce, and I added a fried egg. It was delicious!
fun re-creating the old food trucks from the rutgers history. eating is as expected, fat fattening and at the right time, just what they want and need. no disappointment. meets expectations!
Yes, I keep coming back to this restaurant so often! Whether it's for a late night snack or just to indulge in one of their delicious sandwiches, it always hits the spot!

Alum, returning to capture a classic piece of my Rutgers past. Friendly service, but the Fat Cat was so-so. Jimmy's Grill is more what I'm looking for.
