We had booked a table for 2ppl at 8pm to celebrate a birthday and got there about 10 minutes early, soaking wet after enduring the wonderful Melbourne weather on the short walk there. The lady at the front desk was very apologetic that our table wasn't ready yet and invited us to have a drink at the bar, which we did. Our table was available at about 8:05pm and it was quite a busy night, so the staff were all rushed off their feet, but doing a great job. After about another 5 minutes we were apologised to for having to wait to order and offered a free cocktail or entree. We went with cocktails and they were delicious! We then had a lovely meal, with steak and lamb rack both cooked to perfection. When we got the bill at the end we noticed that as well as our cocktails being comp'd, the drinks from the bar had not been added to the bill. We pointed this out and were delighted to be told these were also free of charge. Can't ask for more than that! We hadn't even felt like we had really been waiting long (remembering we arrived early) and we were never ignored, we felt very well looked after. Great restaurant and we wouldn't hesitate to return.

One grass-fed eye fillet and one rump, served with sides of roast vegetables, garlic bread and marinated olives. Several glasses of McLarenVale Shiraz helped the meal along splendidly. One perfect mulled wine - (beautifully spiced, with a edge of cinnamon sugar around the rim of the goblet). The steaks were perfectly cooked and very tasty. Easy to slice the steaks with the sharp steak knives provided. Mixed roast vegetables a good complementary side to the steaks. Four large pieces of garlic bread (one serve). The small size serving of tender marinated olives was plenty for two people. One bottle of Tasmanian rain water - very clean on the palate. No room for sweets or coffee. Cafe de Paris butter had undesirable feint hint of fishy flavour. Large table with linen napkins. Polished glasswear, clean cutlery and plates. Waiters friendly and professional. Pleasant ambiance with soft lighting.Bill approx $160.

Best steak. Great atmosphere and good wine selection. We sat at the bar and the seats were so comfortable we didn't mind staying up there. Was very busy though and staff were busy. Could have had more staff to cater for the busy Saturday evening. Amazing food though and one for steak appreciators.

The steaks were cooked to perfection, melt in your mouth. Calamari was also delicious. But the sides etc let the meal down. I liked the atmosphere of the uptown and had a great red wine with my steak. Great night but not my preferred steak house.
