I had the impression that this place has undergone some changes, as all my favorite menu items are no longer available, which is quite disheartening. It seems to have transitioned into more of a quick sushi spot with a concise menu, spanning just one page front and back. This new menu primarily focuses on various sushi rolls, with the salmon lemon roll being a noteworthy exception and quite delicious. Strangely, there isn 't even a drink menu, which is a departure from the norm. It no longer gives off the vibe of an authentic Japanese restaurant in my opinion. Have been a long time customer (20 years) and the visit last weekend was such a disappointment. As others have said the menu is missing so many of the favorites that made Renga Tei special from other Japanese restaurants. Also was upset to see bento boxes are lunch only! The food was definitely not as good. The tempura was terrible and the sushi actually would fall apart when picking it up. That would never happen under the previous ownership. It's such a shame that we will no longer go back unless we see the reviews say things have gotten better and the menu puts back those old favorites. All good things come to an end and this looks like it for us with Renga Tei
Bento Box Mondays are fantastic! The portions are generous, and the variety you receive for $19 to $30 is a great deal. Where else can you find a fresh, high-quality, delicious dinner—including an entrée, sushi, side, soup, and salad—all for around $20? Be sure to ask for Jack; he provided excellent descriptions and top-notch service.

Generally good sushi place. Fish was fresh. Service was efficient and forced friendly, but not necessarily warm and welcoming. Atmosphere will do. In the middle of Lincolnwood or Skokie , wherever it is, it will do.
We go a few times a month! Healthy, real japanese food! High quality and truly authentic. This place has new ownership and it's still as wonderful as it was before and we're so happy that it is still around.

Went with a large group..my first time here. Very impressed with the food. Prices a little high but good quality and plenty of food.
Authentic old school Japanese spot. The sushi is fresh and the Tonkatsu is huge!
