Restaurant Auberge Au Zahnacker

Well it looked promising with a good choice of fish - often a good indicator of a quality restaurant, but not in this case.Firstly, the food itself was very good, but the service was abysmal!We sat down at 1pm and ordered after ten minutes - when nothing had come after half an hour, I went to find our waiter, who was chatting happily to another waiter outside in the sun on the terrace. My Quiche then came at 1.45. Then another half an hour before our main courses arrived - so it was now 2.20pm!It was only then that the waiter told us that "someone had not turned up in the kitchen"Now we are well used to the slower service normal in France - but for us to be left sitting there for over an hour before any explanation was offered was simply incompetent!As I say, the food was of a high standard - but the meal was ruined by this simple failure to tell us what was happening.Simlply put, our waiter, for all his pretension is seriously in need of BASIC TRAINING!English speakers should take the time to look at the French reviews before setting foot here!

Had a great meal here during our recent tour of the region. There were plenty of local dishes on the menu and we chose to have a baeckeoffe and a choucroute. Whilst waiting for the food we were able to talk with our waiter Jean who had local knowledge and gave us useful tips on what to do and see in the area. When the food arrived it was very good and as suggested no extra vegetables were needed. In fact we did not even manage a dessert course.We sat outside and enjoyed watching the traffic go by and listening to the staff chatting with their local clients.

We were saved truly haute cuisine versions of Alsatian specialities. Superb wines and eau de vie as well. Very friendly, helpful server who spoke excellent English. We highly recommend this restaurant.

Went for a weekend ride and found this pleasant surprise. Great service, great menu. Tried the first asparagus of the spring and had a desert to die for!
