We were on tour with our friends and had reservations for dinner here. This was a nice looking place to eat but the waiter was so very rude we could not believe it. He seemed to display an attitude towards Americans? When asked what kind of steak? (Meaning sirloin, T-bone, Tenderloin, etc) He replied "beef". When asked but what kind of beef? He replied, "rabbit" Hope he was being funny. But never answered our question. Don't you want to know what kind of steak you are ordering? Some are tough while others are tender. It took over an hour for us to be served our meals at this restaurant, which was recommended to us. It was not our waitress' fault who looked harried by all the customers asking where was their food, and she did go and inquire about our food after we had been waiting an hour. She then told the kitchen was starting to prepare our food now. When I did get my crab legs they were well prepared but the accompanying rice with vegetables and Ceasar salad were below par. The evening(Tuesday) started off rough but finished decently. We were treated by a blond haired lady with a white shirt and asked to be seated....this seemed complicated due we were a party of 7(3 children and 4 adults). She began to rant and rave that we were an odd number and the tables are set for even numbers. She began to get very aggressive and frustrated until a waitress intervened( blue shirts) and seated us. I guess our timing was good - as tourbuses arrived about an hour after we did. We had a lovely meal - I had the smoked salmon appie followed by the most wonderful Muscles!!! The desert was also fabulous! (sadly I can't remember what my husband had, but I know he enjoyed it also). The waiter was really funny, and relaxed, and joking around with us. The entertainment had half the restaurant singing with it, and me clapping after every song! Very enjoyable evening - they didn't rush us one bit, and they were really swamped! The reastaurant was very poorly ventilated which resulted in it being very warm even though it was seaside and had many windows. The service was slow, and with a buffet available you would think it would be fast with just having to serve drinks to half the customers. Food was good but nothing special. They also had a section available to eat outside but when we asked they said it wasn't available. I was very disapointed with my experience and especially for the price we paid for dinner.
The food was pricey for the quality. The mussels were good, caesar salad mundane, and the seafood pasta just okay. We felt a bit rushed but understand the attitude as a horde of tour bus passengers arrived shortly after us. The restaurant would never make it in Montreal but because it has a good location on the water with a view of "the rock" it will continue to attract the captive tourists.
Great staff who, even thought there was an error with our order, corrected it immediately and delivered the correct dish after all.The bouillabaisse wasn't what I would normally expect, in fact quite different to a Marseilles bouillabaisse. For the cost I must admit I was a bit dissapointed.The seafood plate wasn't bad, but all over just a bit average.Excellent location right on the water.
Husband ordered the paella which turned out to be seafood served in a bed of rice (!!). I ordered the scallops and was much happier with my choice. The quality of the seafood is very good but the preparation of some of the dishes (like the paella) could be greatly improved. The singer added a nice touch but was so loud that he killed any attempt at conversation. Réservez une table maintenant
I had bouillibase which was uninspired and lacking in flavor. Seemed that the broth was watery and had canned vegetables in it. Looked much better than it tasted. Came with smoked salmon, lemon merinque pie and tea.. the best part of the meal. very cute place and service was great. Beautiful view as well. It could be great.
