When we asked several locals where to eat, they all recommended the Chez Georges. So, we gave it a try. It was fairly quiet on a Wednesday evening and we were able to snag a table for two on the streetside patio. We were looking for a good steak supper. My adult son had "escargots à la fromage" and the 18 oz sirloin (and finished it), while I tried regular escargots and the 14 oz rib steak. His steak was thick and juicy while mine was thin and grisly. His was tepid, while mine was lukewarm at best and bordering on cool (yes, I know tepid and lukewarm are the same thing - it's an inside joke). The service, however, was friendly and attentive. We walked down to this restaurant when staying at chateau Murdock and I can honestly say that this was the worst place we went to in the whole of our 2 weeks in Canada. The staff were unfriendly refused to try and help with our limited French and did not try to speak English, if we hadn't been so hungry we would have walked out, the menu was in French which has not been a problem everywhere else but it was not clear what you got and nobody explained. The burger when it arrived was dry and not very nice, advice steer clear of this place.
If you love steaks this is the place to visit when in Chicoutimi. Established in 1960 as a family restaurant and specialized in meat. We were a large group of people and that may have affected the service a bit. They seemed to be too few this day but the overall impression was still good. Be careful to specify clearly how you want your meat done to avoid disappointment. There is also a bar being a part of the restaurant where you can watch TV and enjoy a drink before or after the dinner. Seemed to be a popular place.
Menu options were not very imaginative. I ordered the chicken breast dish and my wife the lemon chicken. In both cases the meat was very dry and overcooked. My chefs salad consisted of a slice of tomato and some lettuce leaves with a bit of dressing - not very impressive. The cheesecake I had for desert was also very dry and uninspiring. Service was OK but staff were not particularly friendly and welcoming. There are definitely better places to eat in Chicoutmi.

Very nice place to eat. Comfortable and reasonably priced. The service was good. However, being in an area that predominately speaks French, I found it difficult to communicate with the wait staff. I do not speak or read French and both the staff and the menu were in French.
I came with my mother and her best friend from primary school days. We certainly enjoyed our meal which was huge! My mother and I had spaghetti and her friend a hot chicken sandwich. The ambiance was perfect for old friends to relax together.
We were pretty disappointed with our meals here, and we had to wait a pretty long time to get them. The menu seemed fine, and the ambience was fairly nice, but once seated, our experience was less than great.

We go at George once a year every summer when we visit the region and are always happy that we did.I always have the grated spaghetti, it is better than in any italian restaurant.
Food was good ans portions were generous. Limited choice for lunch. Found it a bit pricey (18$ spaghetti for lunch.....)
