J'ai été déçu par ce restaurant. Il n'est pas facile de commander hors menu (à la carte) et les choix pour les enfants ne sont, comme d'habitude, pas des plus sains. Nous avons décidé de partager nos assiettes avec les enfants. Le service était un peu désordonné car les serveurs semblaient un peu perdus. Nous n'arrêtions pas de leur demander de laisser les assiettes des enfants car nous voulions les partager et de nouveaux venaient toujours les prendre sans rien demander. Les portions étaient en fait assez petites et la nourriture, bien que bonne, n'avait rien d'extraordinaire.
We were in Sare for three days and ate dinner at Restaurant Lastiry twice. The atmosphere is lovely. Our waitress, Sandra, was very attentive but not overbearing. She also has a great sense of humor with her outgoing personality. Between the two nights we thoroughly enjoyed the following: lamb shank cooked in Basque beer, ground veal with mashed potatoes, salmon with hollandaise sauce, and dessert of poached pear and the regional wines. I particularly enjoyed the lamb shank! Highest rating and worth a drive if near Sare.
In the heart of Sare, this friendly and inviting restaurant is delightful, both for service and food. Our server, Sandra, was friendly, conversant in English, and helpful in our food selections. We remember especially the veal stew, and the lamb shank as being particularly delicious. The ambiance is bright, colorful, fitting the Basque culture. Don't miss this on your visit to Sare.
We based in a gite outside of Sare for two weeks this summer and dined twice at the Hotel Restaurant Lastiry. There is a spacious dining room and a lovely terrace for dining al fresco. The owner and staff are very kind and welcoming; food is well prepared, tasty, and reasonably priced. I would not hesitate to highly recommend Restaurant Lastiry to any visitor to the region.

We had a good lunch on the terrace of the restaurant. The food was excellent. Very France - taking care of every detail in the plate. From the plate arrangnent to the excellent taste.The staff were very friendly and explain the France menu to us.We are considering eating dinner, just tone able to try more of the dishes they are offering.
Magnifique restaurant de style campagnard pittoresque. De belles oeuvres d'art exposées. Mon petit ami a choisi le miroir de fritons comme entrée. J'ai opté pour l'axoa de veau en plat principal et il a pris la souris d'agneau. Tous les plats étaient délicieux. Le service était excellent, notre serveur était sympathique et serviable.
We were exploring the small inland Basque towns, and the menu at Lastiry offered just the kind of Basque comfort food we desired. The lamb shank was outstanding, the roast pork very good, and the Basque cake was the perfect finish. The service was friendly and attentive.
J'ai apprécié un très bon repas ici dans une atmosphère détendue - personnel attentif - menu un peu restreint - vérifiez à l'extérieur avant d'entrer s'il y a quelque chose qui pourrait vous plaire - qualité de la nourriture superbe.

Tout était bon dans l'ensemble : rien de mauvais, rien d'exceptionnel et globalement une expérience satisfaisante. Bon emplacement, possibilité de manger en plein air et d'observer les gens sous le couvert des feuilles.
The food was missing a certain amount of seasoning but other than that, a really great meal with original dishes and local wine. The service was perfect and the staff fun and welcoming.
