"We ended up here twice when we couldn't find anywhere else that wasn't full. Not an exciting menu, but the salads are good and plentiful. The duck wasn't so great. Our waitress was charming but not terribly efficient, though all the staff was friendly."

My wife and I had dinner our first night in Saint Aignan after a long journey from Texas. Being Friday night it was difficult finding a place that had an unreserved table. My wife and I each had what we thought was a Duck sausage salad, desert and shared a bottle of Rose. The salad was graced with Gorgonzola cheese, olives etc.,and topped with a type of sausage. Don't get me wrong: I don't do tripe!!! However, the sausage was made from pork tripe and herbs and was quiet good - not a hint of the twang associated with entrails. The waitress and the owner were helpful and friendly. The salad accompanied with desert was 19 euros and all of the wines were at least 22 euros. This, we thought was a little overpriced. We would recommend, just understanding the pricing. Larry & Kelly, Georgetown, TX

Ate here last night, as we didn't feel like traveling too far after a long day.Menu is uninspiring, and we should have listened to our gut feel about the place. The decor is pleasant enough, the waitress was very friendly. However the food was very ordinary. Small serves, prawns not fresh, steak came out very rare even though we asked for well done (common problem in France, but one we've managed to overcome in many other establishments). The dessert menu features about 8 choices - except that they're pretty much all ice cream. Not even a creme brulee or other french classic.Bill came to more than the last 4 nights, all of which had better food. So especially considering the price/value relationship - I do NOT recommend this place, unless you have no other options.

The location is very nice and quiet, especially on the terrace in summer. The service was very fast and pleasant. We were just disappointed by the quality of the dishes we got and the prices. The escargots with mushrooms just tasted water. I guess they were both straight from the freezer but even the sauce was tasteless. The meat was excellent, very soft and cooked as I asked. But the sauce served with tasted burnt. When I mentioned it to the waitress she sounded surprised and told me it can't be because it's cooked (or maybe warmed) in a bain-marie. Taste it and you will noticed it too!The salmon wasn't cooked well and also tasted water. Finally the dessert, a café gourmand was simple but delicious. And at last, toilet was very clean ;)

There was a bit of a wobble when the previous owners left, but now it's back to form. Excellent salads and fish. Decent service. The indoor dining room can be a bit gloomy, so if it's not fit to sit outside, ask to sit in the bar area, which is much more cheerful and bistro-like.
