Firstly - call to book as we rocked up at various times of the day to make a reservation only to be faced with closed doors and noone around - to the extent that we thought it might have been closed for the season as not a sign in sight. Thankfully, perseverance finally paid off (but please put a sign up re your opening hours!). The service is professional yet unpretentious. The pink and grey decor is contemporary but simple whilst the food is surprisingly sophisticated and beautifully presented. Sometimes 'pretty presentation' can be disappointing on the tastebuds but not at Ose. Succulent steak, delicious duck followed on from surprising starter combinations including chèvre and courgette mouses on puff pastry and a mini taster platter of imaginative ways to serve the local sardines. Begin with the house cocktail (fab glasses) and end with a boozy vodka soaked sorbet selection. The wine's not bad either! Nothing disappointed. It tantalised the tastebuds from beginning to end and I can't wait to re-visit.
OSE is close to the city center of Saint Gilles Croix de Vie situated in a quiet street with otherwise residential buildings.Tastefully interior with a fine female touch and a cosy outside terrace.Enjoyed an unforgettable 3-course meal with rarely seen genius. As a starter my daughter and myself had a symphony entirely based on sardines! Simply fantastic! Even the sorbet with sardine flavour was spot on!Try this one out and find yourself deliciously challenged in your gastronomic beliefs.
Went to Ose for a lunch towards the end of a 3 week stay near St. Gilles. Beautiful meal, with really interesting and unusual flavours. Highly recommended. Ose house cocktail was delicious, as was the Cafe Gourmand. Well work a special visit. Already looking forward to going back there next summer. Very reasonably priced for the quality of food you get.
Second visit to OSE and just as good as the first time.fine dinning without the snobbery.great food and wine.very diffrent and presentation outstanding .staff brilliant Holiday home here means we stay in vendee from April to October and thus will be our special treat place.
