It was lovely to come back to this pub after living out of the area for a few years. Mum and I had the mixed meat Sunday lunch, very tasty meats, veg and gravy. My mum is not easy to please but she loved it all inc the cherry Eaton Mess. Lovely friendly landlord. Very traditional pub on the edge of the canal. It was lovely to go back. Would strongly recommend this pub for whatever occasion, I am looking forward to visiting again very soon
This is the third time we have been for the Sunday roast dinner, with different family and friends, and everything has been brilliant the meat is cooked to perfection! The vegetables are always hot. And you never have to wait to long. It is always warm and the atmosphere is good. My husband and the friend we took both had a pint or two of the seasonal ale and both thoroughly enjoyed it. Ps The wine is always good.
We were on holiday in the Peak District and had cycled to Marple via the canal path .. we dropped into the Ring o Bell for a quick drink before our return, what a great place to eat and drink we were greeted by the Manager and welcomed we ended up having some lunch and a couple of drinks can’t say enough … Great service Fantastic staff and fabulous food and drink Thank you We will be back John Julie Hussey
This pub has the potential to be incredible. Its location by the canal is unbeatable and the exterior is beautifully decorated with a large gazebo for shade and shelter. However, it is unfortunate that the owner is so arrogant and unwelcoming. He speaks to customers as if they are inferior to him and treats them as if he is doing them a favor. His treatment of staff mirrors this behavior as well. Réservez une table maintenant
Well kept beer (Robinson's Cascade, Unicorn and Dizzy Blonde) Table service only during the winter but that's no problem as friendly and attentive staff. Excellent food. This has become a regular lunch stop for me. Canal side with outside seating area for when the days get longer and the weather better.
I always make a reservation at this pub for lunch or dinner, sometimes both, when I travel up north to visit family. The staff is always welcoming and the food is excellent. The location is fantastic, right on the canal. It's definitely worth a visit. If I lived closer, it would be my go-to local spot.
