Made a reservation to celebrate our 30th anniversary and my wife’s birthday. When we got there, we were told we couldn’t sit in the bright restaurant overlooking the river. The hostess took us to the dark and empty lounge overlooking the patio furniture storage. When we told her we had a reservation, she told us that they had to split up the customers to even things out for the staff and this was where we had to sit whether we liked it or not. During our meal only one other group was forced to sit in the dark and empty lounge. A group poked its head into the lounge during our meal, but the server told them that this space was only for walk ins, not for reservations. We try to support local b...
We are fans of Riverbank Bistro and have dined there multiple times. However, our recent visit was disappointing due to extremely slow service. Our entrees took a long time to arrive, and when they did, they were on the smaller side for the price. For dessert, my friend and I both ordered key lime pie, while my husband opted for an espresso coffee. The coffee came promptly, but we had to wait a long time for the pie. When only one slice arrived, we had to flag down our server to request the second slice we had ordered. The food was tasty, but the slow service left much to be desired.
A significant challenge is the accessibility of the restaurant. There is no wheelchair parking in the lot, and while there is a ramp leading to the front door, there is a several inches up step to the entrance for which the building has no support. Manual wheelchairs could be lifted up, but power wheelchairs need a ramp to enter. Building owner needs to install a ramp to the front door to make accessible. Restaurant staff and management were very helpful once inside the building, and have made a commitment to request support from the building owner which is wonderful.
The atmosphere, cuisine, and service at this restaurant were fantastic. As someone with celiac disease, I was pleased to see a variety of gluten-free options on the menu. The server was knowledgeable and accommodating when it came to gluten-free choices and avoiding cross-contamination. I ordered the shrimp cocktail and the salmon dish, both of which were not only delicious but also beautifully plated. We definitely plan on returning soon!
The food and service at this restaurant were excellent. We arrived early, so it was quiet and easy to have a conversation. However, the noise level increased significantly towards the end of our meal, which was a bit disruptive. We're considering trying out the lounge area next time.
