I have heard so many great things about Saap that I was very eager to visit. I made an online reservation 2 weeks in advance for a Friday night dinner date with my fiance. A reminder was automatically sent to my Google Calendar for 7pm. We showed up at 7pm but the waiter could not find our reservation. I was confused, and hurriedly checked my Google Calendar and showed him that it said 7pm. Then I checked my email and saw I had been given a different reservation time in the email, for 6pm. I felt terrible and I apologized for the confusion, as there clearly was a glitch in the online reservation system. The waiter looked very annoyed and informed me You really should check more carefully next time then reluctantly handed us a QR code (for the online menu) and told us to sit anywhere we 'd like. We felt very unwelcome as we sat down, but were glad that we could still enjoy some delicious food. We ordered 3 dishes, which took quite a long time to be served, similar to many other reviewer experiences. I was delighted to see that the dishes were full of protein and fresh vegetables and were beautifully presented. However, the flavors were quite disappointing. The soup was far too sour and salty, the noodle dish was bland, and the panang curry had almost no heat (I had requested spicy level 4 out of 5). We ate our meal, but it was not what I hoped for from an award winning restaurant. As we were paying, I apologized again for the confusion with our reservation and thanked the server for accommodating us. His response was Well you really should be sure to check next time . I can overlook the food not being perfect. I understand that everyone has an off day and I know that finding restaurant help in rural VT is a challenge right now. But the way the server treated us was unnecessary. It was an honest mistake, but he truly made us feel like we were an imposition. For that reason we have no interest in returning.
