Different dish is being served other than the one ordered. Pad See Ew (thick noodle, dark sauce, no lime etc... is on the menu, but what is served is clearly Pad Thai missing the peanuts (thin noodle, light tomato based sauce, lime etc.. . Staff deny thedifference and say that's just the way they make it. Unfortunately to anybody with a shred of experience with Thai food thedifference is akin to ordering a spaghetti in an Italian restaurant, but being served a fusilli with a completely differentsauce than the one ordered. It's acceptable if the establishment doesn't want to serve a particular dish but it really should betaken off the menu and not just passed off as something else coupled wit...
A delusion. Thai cuisine is excellent, well blended and tasty. In this restaurant in Sidney BC unfortunately the food is very anonymous, poorly cooked. Add to that the lack of attention from the staff. I asked for medium spicy and my dish was not at all.The amount of fish and shrimp on the plate was ridiculous; too many peppers and even undercooked. We had to ask for waterbecause we were without and they brought us a 1 liter bottle despite being in four. Sorry, but I can't recommend it.
I cannot recommend this restaurant enough! I went there today for a late lunch and was promptly greeted. We sat outside in a nice shaded area. The lunch menu provided just enough options and was very reasonably priced! I had the cashew chicken and my step-daughter had the chicken pad Thai (both $11 each). We added spring rolls for $1 each and drinks of mango and lychee juice $(2.50 I think). It was delicious and healthy - fresh food without oil or salt masking the taste. Go there!
The food is very good and the staff are friendly. When my daughter was ordering, her voice was low and the caring staff bowed her body close to my daughter, but her hair was dipping into my water. It was embarrassing, so I didn 't want to blame the staffand asked for another glass of water. The friendly staff asked me, Do you want hot water? , which was very heartwarming to me.I am Chinese and most people know that Chinese people like hot water. So I give a 5 stars rating. We took a quick walk in Sidney at lunch time and chose Sabhai Thai for its outdoor seating. The patio was quite busy and a few people were sitting inside. Service was very attentive. I had the lunch special - small soup, very good pad Thai and a couple of spring rolls. The flavours were great and this pad Thai ranks with the best.
Our last visit was 3 years ago when we stayed in Sidney. It was excellent so we tried it out again during our recent stay in Sidney. It's still excellent! Very tasty genuine Thai flavors. Friendly service and very reasonable prices. No wonder why it's always busy at Sabai!
