*HIGHLY RECOMMEND* This place was recommended to me by a friend and it is hands down one of the best restaurant to go to for Japanese comfort food. We drove from Philly to New Jersey for this restaurant that sits alone next to a main road and it was worth it. The interior has a traditional Japanese style to it, with low ceiling and wooden everything. Very cozy. Food wise, forget about the sushi, the gems of this place are their hot foods, dishes that I 'd consider Japanese comfort food that just warms up your soul with every bite. Had dinner tonight at Sagami and ordered the chirashi bowl and a miso soup. My mom had ordered miso soup also and unaju which is broiled eel. The eel was absolutely delicious and the sushi was average if I?m honest. Some pieces of sashimi were definitelybetter than others. Presentation was amazing and the atmosphere was also really nice. Honestly I would only go back for theeel.
Sagami Japanese is a very clean, cozy, and authentic restaurant. The owner is Japanese, while most of the staff are from Vietnam. Everyone is incredibly polite and attentive to detail! The food is exceptionally fresh, and the atmosphere offers the most genuine Japanese experience compared to other places nearby. We left feeling refreshed and can’t wait to come back soon!
It is a very clean, warm, intimate, and authentic Restaurant. The owner is Japanese , most of the other workers are from Vietnam ???? Everyone is very polite and attentive to detail ! Foods very fresh, and place has the most authentic Japanese feelcompared to others spots in the area We left feeling refreshed: and hope we can return again very soon !!!! ??????????? !!!

A bit more expensive than expected, but the food is tasty. The eel rice is quite sweet and might be overpowering, so I would avoid it if you’re not a fan of sweet meat dishes. The staff were wonderful! The waitresses were very friendly and made us feel right at home during our dinner.
Fantastic! The best Japanese sushi on the east coast if not in the USA. Gyoza, edamame sushi are mouth watering. The service is spectacular same folks for years. One of my favorite restaurants. Perfect BYOB to celebrate an occasion or start atradition with that special someone.
Sagami Japanese is located beneath a train overpass alongside a busy road. Despite that, the food was fantastic, especially the fish. I do wish they could eliminate the faint musty smell in the air. Still, I highly recommend this place.
More pricy than expected but the food is good. Eel rice can be a bit overwhelming (too sweet), so avoid it if you can?t handle sweet meat. Awesome staff! The waitresses were really nice and made us experience a home-like dinner

This is and has been my favorite restaurant for the last 20 years. I love the people, the ambiance, and especially the cuisine. My happy place. Bravo to the Sagami crew!
