Saigon Rex offers the best Vietnamese food and service in Calgary. They truly go above and beyond to ensure their customers are satisfied. We ordered dinner, and after our meal was delivered, I realized there was a mistake with our order. I called the restaurant, and they immediately apologized and promised to prepare and deliver the correct order as quickly as possible. Within 20 minutes, a driver from the restaurant arrived at my home with the right order and also apologized for the mix-up. I can't recommend this restaurant highly enough! The food and service are exceptional. Thank you, Saigon Rex!
Calgary is home to several great Vietnamese restaurants, and I'm familiar with many of them in the NW and downtown areas. My personal favorite is Saigon Rex. The food is consistently excellent, but what truly sets Rex apart for me is its calm and peaceful atmosphere. Unlike some Vietnamese spots, there's no loud noise coming from the kitchen or the staff. The older waiter/host does a wonderful job, quietly ensuring that our dining experience is exceptional. There's also plenty of parking available. I highly recommend it!
Came here for the first time and was quite happy with our lunch. You get a giant bowl of pho for the price you pay. The flavour was quite good and you get a decent amount of beef with plenty of bean sprouts. If you prefer the bean sprout to be cooked, just ask and they can gently boil it for you before serving. The Thai basil could have been fresher and their choice of spoon compared to the size of the bowl used could be more compatible, but overall, I would come again.
I'm not sure if this restaurant has recently changed ownership, but it was a complete disaster. I had to wait 45 minutes past my scheduled pickup time for my order, and I noticed others were waiting for an hour. The restaurant was empty, which made the long wait even more frustrating. When I got home, I discovered that they had left out all the salad from my Vermicelli and gave me the wrong starter altogether. To top it off, the food wasn’t even edible. While I'm okay with automatic gratuities, they should be clearly communicated. Otherwise, it leads to an unexpected situation where we unintentionally paid a total tip of around 40%. For reference, we ordered the Hummer Curry ($25), Pig Vermicelli ($14.50), and a bubble tea ($6), which totaled $57, but we ended up paying $68 after the included tip.
I ordered the satay beef noodle soup, not realizing it was peanut-based instead of just chili-based. Despite that surprise, it was quite tasty! The portion was large and filled with plenty of tender beef. I've also heard great things about their lobster noodle soup, so I'm definitely looking forward to trying that on my next visit.
Had a disappointing experience here before but my cousin really wanted to try the lobster pho so decided to give it another go. The broth was good but the lobster was very overdone and the taste was off, one lobster tail was rubbery, the other was mushy and broke apart on contact. Would come back for regular pho perhaps.
One of the best Pho Soups ever! The broth is legit and you can taste fresh ingredients. The proportions of noodles and meet is also just perfect. It’s a great location with enough parking. The service is good and friendly. We like this place very much. Réservez une table maintenant
