Salsa Street Mexican Cantina

This is a delightful and peaceful Mexican restaurant situated in a strip mall. I stopped by around 5 PM on a rainy Friday and was the sole customer at the time. I observed that they also offered takeout and delivery options. I ordered the chicken burrito bowl and was very satisfied with both the generous portion and the quality of the food. Additionally, I tried a mango margarita, which I found quite enjoyable. Overall, I had a pleasant experience; however, I did think the prices were somewhat elevated, though this could be typical for the Chicago area.

I ended up at this restaurant while working in the area. The waiter was quite good—very attentive. I ordered steak, as well as beef and shrimp tacos. I really enjoyed the steak. However, the shrimp tacos had too much pineapple salsa, and the shrimp itself was quite small. The beef was good as well. As for vegetarian options, they offer a mushroom taco, but I didn't try it because I wasn't sure if the mushrooms used were canned or fresh. Overall, I dined in.

My brother and I visited last night (Friday, July 21), and as shown in the picture, the presentation of the two tacos I ordered was impeccable. Even though it was our first time there, the staff created a welcoming atmosphere for us to enjoy a delicious meal with excellent service, all at a reasonable price. The flavor was good, but overall the experience was really disappointing, and I wouldn't recommend this place. The chips were stale, the rice tasted like it was instant, and the beans were overly salty. The Asada steak and chorizo taco dinner did not meet my expectations.

I ordered a carry-out steak burrito for $18, expecting it to be large. Unfortunately, it was not big at all. There wasn't much meat, and it was overstuffed with veggies that you typically find in a burrito. I won't be ordering from here again.
