we have been to this pub and over the last three years have seen it change hands and menus, stories abound about the why's and where fors of failures. Last night we went again with two other couples from the area, specifically to see the entertainer who was great as usual, he played for two and a half hours with only 1 fifteen minute break, great sense of humour and a songs that just were non stop.So having said that we arrived at six and decided to make a night of it. we ordered supper off the scant choices offered, no appetizers.Asked if the cod that was served with french fries was fresh, the answer was it was frozen but now its thawed, unacceptable! living in a coastal village they serve...

We have come to this place over the last several years and always thought the food was good, but we always seemed to arrive at the wrong time, as the service was poor.We decided to try it out recently and dropped by for a quick bite and a drink. We decided to share a plate of calamari and a Greek salad. The salad was good, but I have never understood the two or 3 olives per plate...the garlic bread that came with it was cold And not toasted on one side and a little burnt on the other. The calamari was extremely chewy, some was inedible and the old oil taste lingered in our mouths. The waitress was very friendly, and fast to bring our drinks and food, and ensured we had everything we needed,...

In fact, it was a home once upon a time, and it is tucked behind the landscaping on a small street off the main highway so if you didn't know it was here you would drive right past it. Craftsman charm, good beer, and decent pub food more or less as you'd expect with some dependence on fried food: fish and chips, burger plates and the like. And someone's got some Greek ancestry going on as some of the dishes veer that direction. Quiet on midweek days but apparently quite the place on Friday and Saturday nights--you'll see all the neighbors here!

The food and atmosphere under the new ownership/management at the Saltair Pub is excellent. We like to arrive around 5pm... we are the early birds. Tonight we had their featured special, the halibut burger and fries. The best ever!!! They have a new chef and we are so impressed. We also like that they have Riot Beer, a local brewery, on tap. We are locals, supporting locals, who are supporting locals!!

After visiting the Chemainus Theatre for the production of A Christmas Story we stopped off at the Saltair pub for dinner and a couple of libations :)The beer was above average and seemed to compliment the food we chose, I had the house burger (fully loaded) and my wife had the steak which she said was cooked to her liking so we gave the place a two thumbs up!!!

we were here for dinner and ordered beef dip with caesar salad and a bowl of soup. The waitress was prompt with taking our order. As it was a rainy night, we enjoyed sitting in front of the cozy little fireplace. The pub is located in a charming 100 year old house. There seemed to be a lot of locals there that night.

We have been to the Saltair pub on numerous occasions but I think the chef or owners have changed... Quite bland, food not the usual quality and our guests that we had taken were very disappointed in our choice, although the servers were very obliging. We will be giving it a wide berth for quite some time.

They have a new menu that I didn't see posted, and awesome new management! Live music every Friday evening. A great spot for a nice dinner and drink and live acoustic music

This is our 'local' and on Friday nights has live music, so pop along enjoy good food in an 'English' pub setting.
