May 8 Soft re opening review. Samovar is back! I've been missing their luxurious Masala chai all of COVID and I'm so happy they're reopen! The outdoor seating above Yerba Buena is beautiful with lots of open space. The menu is different though with a strong Mediterranean influence. Everything was delicious and fresh, but unfortunately the iconic congee is not yet available. Prices are still high, but you're paying for high quality ingredients and the views. Halloumi cheese hard to find halloumi done well in SF, and this dish definitely delivered! Served with a mint chutney that added a nice twist to this Mediterranean classic Homemade pita complimentary for soft opening! Puffed, light pita w...

I really love Samovar Tea for the view it has of downtown. Even though it was freezing cold in SF, if the sun is out, I highly recommend sitting outside. The service here is excellent and attentive. We ordered nitro tea flight $13) ferry plaza artisan pickle plate $7) mezze share platter $24) and added smoked duck for $8) as well as the japanese smoked chicken salad $16) The nitro tea flight comes with 4 different flavors which were tart peach, mango, hibiscus, and one more that I forgot. the nitro tea is natural with no sweeteners. I wasn't a fan of this because it kinda tasted like cough medicine. If you're into the more traditional Chinese/japanese teas, I wouldn't recommend this. We also...

I am thrilled that Samovar has reopened! During their soft opening, they have a limited menu with a Mediterranean influence. I tried the chicken sandwich, which was surprisingly delicious, even though it's not something I would normally choose. It was a wrap filled with juicy chicken kebab chunks, feta cheese, pickled onions, and oranges - a delightful combination. Their chai, as always, was exceptional and very spicy. I also got to sample two other teas, and discovered a new favorite in the golden turmeric, which is similar in spiciness to the chai but caffeine-free. I do miss some of their old dishes, like smoked duck porridge and smoked salmon with sous vide eggs - I hope they bring them...

I finally made it over to Samovar after a million visits to seemingly all the other restaurants around it. I love how it 's sort of set off from the rest of Yerba Buena inside of a largely glassy building. It 's really gorgeous on a sunny day. I inhaled the Butternut Squash Potsticker Dumplings, which one of my colleagues had been raving about. The Beyond Bhakti Burger...nom nom nom! I 'm a huge fan of the Beyond and Impossible burger franchisees, and EVERYTHING about this burger was so fresh, including the guac. The only bad thing is that it was so tall that I had to strategically cut the burger to eat it. Haha But the best part of any tea lounge is the tea, and I appreciated that the staff... Samovar is an tea bar that sits on top of the modern cascading waterfall and park that is Yerba Buena Gardens. It looks like a glass house, with an outdoor patio, perfect for soaking in the sun, or warming up a gloomy San Francisco day with beautiful views of downtown. Drinking tea is a ritual, but even if you're not an avid tea drinker, you can come here to experience it. The menu truly takes tea and healthy organic food to a new level. The tea comes out in a tray with small stone kettle and Indonesian tea cups. I come here when I want time to slow down and do something good for myself. Healthy food options, and amazing tea experience. I always order the same thing: Lychee black tea with ho...

I came here to get brunch with some friends on a Saturday morning. We were all staying at the W Hotel and this was close by so we just walked over. There wasn't a wait when we got there and was seated right away. They seated us outside on the patio and the view was spectacular. It was a very nice day with terrific weather. I ordered the Samovar Jook and the English Breakfast Black Tea. The congee was warm and soothing. I thought the dish was nice but nothing to cry home about. Definitely would have ordered something else had I known it would be so bland and uninteresting. The tea was very nice. It came in a pot and I had to ask for the cream and sugar for it. The overall service wasn't bad e...

I absolutely love this charming restaurant in a beautiful location and would definitely return! My party of 4 was seated promptly at 3 pm on a Friday afternoon. For food, we ordered the iron goddess of mercy, mochi platter, and scone platter. The tea pots were a great value as we could refill them with hot water throughout the meal. The mochi platter was a standout, offering a unique and delicious dish to share among us. The scones were also enjoyable, especially when paired with the strawberry jam and honey. The service was excellent, with the waiter attentive to keeping our hot water topped up. The ambiance was perfect for relaxing and catching up with friends, especially outdoors facing t...

The duck jook at this restaurant is a winner! I was in town for the weekend with limited time and meals, so I needed a place near my hotel to experience the best of what SF has to offer. Upon a friend's recommendation, I ended up here and luckily, there was no wait for our group of three. Our food arrived quickly after we ordered, which made the experience even better. As a Korean who eats a lot of jook, I was impressed with the presentation and taste of this dish. The duck added a flavorful touch that excited my taste buds. It was a simple yet elegant dish that I thoroughly enjoyed. I look forward to returning in the future. Réservez une table maintenant

Wonderful tea house in the top center of San Francisco's Yerba Buena's garden. The food is always exceptional and they have a wide variety of tea selections. A must visit for any tea aficionado. I try to visit every time I'm in the city. Due note they were closed for renovations during my latest visit on July 11th.
