Saravanaa Bhavan - Réservation de table

Went there with a group over twelve people mid week. Positives were we were seated in an area which was secluded. Waiter gave good service and nice and clean setting including the areas for washing fingers(obligatory for this cuisine).The mini meal is good VFM -just enough for guys and ladies. The full meal is huge and too much for a single person so I was puzzled by the caveat "no sharing" a lady who ordered it simply wasted half! The dosai a great disappointment -I had the Masala combined and when it arrived noted its limited size and ordered a supplementary dish.It is small just fitting on a plate with scanty fillings. The long drive to the restaurant is worth it! Food is really great, reminded us of home food. There are too many Indian restaurants in Melbourne that are really great in serving North Indian food, but south indian , mainly dosas .... but we were excited to try authentic south indian food and it didnt disappoint. We were there on a Friday afternoon so away from weekend crowd and wait times. Service was also great and friendly.Although many items that you can find in indian SB menu were missing, looks like there were too many north indian items (again) but we cannot complain...We had the masala vada and idli, ghee idli, masala parotta, and mini meals.Finishing with kulfi. Food was very average.It took ages to take orders, 3 tables of people who came after us were attended to before we were noticed.The wait was length, I could hear myself ageing in the process.Food finally arrived and they got the order wrong.Being famished we would have eaten grass and hay, so didn't complain about it. The Thali was disappointing! Everything tasted the same, intact the sambar and the rasam had a similar look and taste, rice was luke warm. This was our second bad experience here assuming that the first time round was just teething problems of a new business. Very pricey for what it is. Had heard so much about Sarvanaa Bhuvan from friends that thought should give a go to try it out. Unfortunately it was not the best expereince, nor did it stand up to the mark that we had so highly heard. We went for diner on a Friday night. Idlis were already not available since they ran out ( on a friday night!!). Settled for vada and south indian thali. The vadas were soaking in oil. Immediately after, i felt by throat getting very soar. Mainly since the oil used might have not have been good. Thali, was just ok. Could feel that the food was not fresh. Ambience, one can hardly say so.. could have passed for a office or retail space as well. Service was ok, but not worth the time and money... Réservez une table maintenant

We ordered for meal and they served us with bisibele bath and upma with pickle. When we asked them regarding the meal we have ordered. No one was ready to answer us and the taste was so bad. Masala dosa ordered for my daughter was not good as well.I have eaten in many Saravana's including Sydney, I don't think it is Saravana bhavan it's just fake. Would like to give less than one star. It's just waste of money. Please don't go there anyone. It is just a dump. Won't recommend for anyone.

While the food served was acceptable, the service is horrible...We had to wait for just 4 items for almost 15-20 mins when we were the first and only ones in the restaurant.If you want to have a quick fix, pls avoid this place. Besides the food was pricey...did not see the value for money.

Great food including meals. Chana bhatura is excellent and we will go there again just to have that. Ice cream is ordinary. Kulfi is excellent. Masala tea is average and overpriced. Service has been good but we only go during the day as we have a baby. Overall would go there again.

We ordered for bondas and they just served us bondas made of 'vada' batter.. This is cheating.. Neither sambar or madras coffee was great. Came here with a lot of expectation.. They are very miser when coming to the amount of chutney they serve. Total dislike... Réservez une table maintenant

In the search of Indian restaurant in Melbourne we have visited king street branch of saravanaa Bhawan. It was a nice experience with Indian hospitality.

The menu was extensive and service very quick. The food was delicious. Would definitely recommend it!
