Tirelesss work horses. I use the equine analogy out of affectionate respect. Out of wonder. The night I was there, it was raining. Biblical. Why mention it? Because wait staff were braving buckets, ferrying dishes empty and full between buildings by way of a narrow sidewalk proving instant showers per inch. I saw their stress and tension teeming down their drenched cheeks framed by rivulets of careworn hair of the evening and felt for them. But it wasn 't that they were victims of a heartless restaurant. I rather got the sense all working shared a common Kingston commitment to quality. One tiny detail? A floating greeter checking on us all delicately with cheery concern. I met Billy Costello...
The waitress was excellent, but the food was terrible. The drinks were watered down, and the bruschetta had an overpowering mix of bewildered basil and tomatoes on bad bread. The pasta was not enjoyable at all, and for $17 for a half cup of pasta with marinara, I expected it to taste at least decent. The hostesses were unfriendly and spent more time on their phones than attending to customers. Last time, we paid over $20 for just four pieces of ravioli, which were likely frozen. Two people in our party ended up with stomach pain and had to stop for Pepto-Bismol on the way home. The appetizers here are 5 star. The main courses are 2.5 stars. The pizza's are 2.5 stars. The drinks are 2 stars. The servers are 5 stars. The food runners and buses are 0 (zero) stars. The hostesses are 5 stars. The cleanliness is 1 star. They have a kids menu so that's at least a 4 star. Average all that out to 3 stars. Prices are fair In comparison to sit down Italian restaurants. I don't hate this place but it seems they are having the issue many restaurants are having post covid and can't put together a good staff and it's definitely effecting the overall experience of dining here. A few good additions to the crew and it can easily become a 5 star place.
I do consider this one of my favorite restaurants in Kingston, however service can be slow at times. The food is tasty and provides huge portions, which is amazing because for the prices is really is even. I remember a few years ago they teased a chocolate mousse desert, it was on the menu for only a night or two and I had the honor of trying it. AMAZING. I wish they had kept it on the menu, it was the best mousse I ever had and I'd probably buy it daily, and I think about it every time! Chicken parm and pepperoni is good, as are the meatballs. Moral of the story: give us the chocolate mousse back... permanently! Réservez une table maintenant
Love love the place.. i' ve just moved to Kingston, and had have lunch there twice,in the past 3 weeks. Great food, Great Attentive wait staff.Did I say the food was great?.. No affectation.A friendly Place with very quality Italian food. Nice choices , and reasonable Prices. the Fried calamari was lightly battered, very fresh. One of the best dishes of Fried Calamari I ve ever had.Its usually so fried and heavy. The Lunch Chop Chop saald with Salmon was delicious, the Chicken Milanese outstanding. Def. will be back quite often.. Thanks all for doing a great Job!!
The service was very friendly, and the food was delicious and plentiful. Sitting outside on the street was a bit uncomfortable, but we were moved to a lovely outdoor seating area once it became available. I've come across some criticisms that I believe actually apply to Ole Savannah, not this restaurant, Savona. I would definitely eat here again and would be excited to try other dishes on their menu.
