I’ve visited this pub before (pre babies) and always loved it. Pre booked for lunch today and I told them I had a double buggy and two babies. I asked to be tucked out of the way if possible but we were placed right by the door, there wasn’t nearly enough room For us and I spent the meal feeling uncomfortable and in the way. One of the babies needed changing and I was told there were no facilities but we could use an alcove by the stairs, so little one was duly placed on the floor for the cleanup which he wasn’t thrilled about . I completely understand that some places just aren’t geared towards kids but when I called to book I wish they’d just said they didn’t really have the space or facil...
I had a great meal here a couple of years back and had always planned to visit again. However, the second time ended up being a bit of a disappointment. I ordered a cheeseburger and my partner a steak. The steak was meant to be medium rare but was much closer to cooked rare. Whilst it was still enjoyed it wasn’t quite as ordered. We were in a hurry so didn’t flag with the kitchen but would certainly order a medium if returning. My cheeseburger was ok but could have been better seasoned. Also it came in a ciabatta bun which was quite tough and made the burger slightly difficult to eat. It didn’t live up to my memories of my previous visit but probably wouldn’t put me off going again.
The Mrs. and I enjoyed a lovely early valentine’s dinner. We started with the jumbo prawn salad. The prawns were cooked so beautifully and delicate. It was if the chef whispered sweet stories of Italy to the prawns while they nestled into a warm blanket of garlic and seasoning Delicious! Best pasta too! We had the seafood linguine and the carbonara which were also cooked with such skill and flavour. All our dishes were paired with their lovely white wine recommendation! Roberto took such care of everyone and we really enjoyed our seat in the window! Thank you Semolina! We cannot not wait for our next visit.
We have saved up to visit Semolina for some time and could not have been happier with our experience. Every dish was beautiful, carefully balanced and moreish; the setting and service warm and welcoming. A little hidden gem of a restaurant, I can't wait for our next visit. A dining experience, exquisite food, very well presented, good service and a lovely intimate atmosphere. Wine was excellent, a lovely Barbera. On the pricey side is the only minus, but definitely recommended for a special occasion. Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5
I was very happy to find somewhere doing gluten free Fish and Chips as can rarely find somewhere that does. The door was really nice, friendly service, and the pub decor is very nice too.
