The Xiao Long Bao and Panfried Pork Dumplings are by far the best in Melbourne. They are better at this branch than the city branch too. This is the place for a super quick, cheap and delicious meal ... and not just for the dumplings!...Their Shanghai Fried Noodles are tasty and not oily or syrupy, the Peking Duck was fresh, tasty and crispy, the dry fried green beans with pork mince is super tasty. And their homemade chili is a fragrant, sweet, salty, hot but not too hot perfection. It’s so good, you can eat it straight from the bowl on the table. Always a Family favourite!!

We went to Shanghai Street on a visit from Sydney having read good reviews on their dumplings. We went for a mix of xaio long bao and had hoped to receive juicy, delicious packages of dumpling goodness. What we got were some flaccid and underwhelming...packages in dumpling wrapper. Not sure if it was a timing issue as we arrived about 2 pm and the restaurant was quite quiet. Service was ok. I think ok for cheap and cheerful dumplings but sure there are better options in this area

This is a very basic yet very authentic Chinese restaurant specializing in incredible dumplings. We shared three dishes among four of us. One was 8 steamed XiaoLongBao, a house specialty, another was 12 chicken and prawn steamed dumplongs, and a platter of Mongolian beef. All...3 were fabulous...ono of those meals that leaves an hour-long wonderful taste in your mouth. The restaurant isn't fancy and the service is fushed and a bit spotty, but the Food is worth it.

eugh, this place was terrible. it was loud when we came in, a lovely group that makes noise. the waiting staff spoke limited English. they were all on the table, every time an empty plated overheard. you cleared it away. $8 BYO charge. the menu was müll for a vegetarian. I had an early dwarf pancake and sweet boil all revolting. the veg consisted only of what looked like ground spinat and had a terrible taste. I would not go back and would not recommend. I came here for a quick bite and had the bark noodle and a beer, it was very nice! I returned a second time and tried the vegetarian dumplings and I didn't like them. next time, I'll stick with the bark. the personal is very friendly.

had two dishes of bark and chicken with rice/noodles. I swear, there was less than one tablespoon of meat in every dish. so disappointing. service was excellent and wein was good. pity that the chef is frugal. could be a good place!

This has been a welcomed addition to the Chapel Street landscape, giving some excellent options for your Chinese food cravings! Service is great. It is licensed and the Sing Tao beers are always ice cold.

Xiao Long Bao is beautiful and a must try. Each dish is enough for an adult. It is a real Chinese Restaurant to try what Chinese food tastes. It doesn't alter the taste to appeal the Locals. Well done. Réservez une table maintenant

That's all that needs to be said. No pumpkin cakes! None. I scoured the menu for them and cried. Dumplings are alright though.

the dumplings were very tasty best dumplings in melbourne! my father and I loved the service and we eat there very regularly.
