I have not tried this place since 2015. My pick-up meal then was a disaster. Terrible food. So I try them again tonight. I call up and as I am discussing my order on the phone with a server there, I hear a phone ring in the background and I hear a male voice say, "put them on hold". So I wait for about 4 minutes. The server comes back on and has absolutely no idea what we were talking about and just makes a mess of everything. Wrong meals, wrong prices, just a mess. Then the server puts me on hold again. Another server comes on the line and the farce starts all over again. These people have not the slightest idea how to talk to customers on the phone. I have no idea why they bother. At least...
I took my girlfriend to Sharkeys for lunch. We decided to share a halibut and chips, even though it was $25.99 for the two piece. The waiter said I'll slip another pc in since you are sharing. The fish was disgusting, breaded in breadcrumbs not like the traditional batter coated fish. The fish was 3 small pcs. and the fries were soggy and the fish was dry (maybe overcooked). When the bill came, the waiter charged me $17.99 for the 3rd pc. I was surprised since a whole order was $25.99, shouldn't that third pc be around 9 or 10 dollars at the most? A week ago my wife and I wanted to go out for dinner, nothing exceptional but a place where we could get a nice meal and surprise surprise we had a wonderful, delicious meal. We both ordered the blueberry sockeye salmon pan fried. My wife had rice and I had garlic mashed potatoes. There was a medley of veggies from sweet onions to carrots,squash asparagus and I am sure there was others. The meal was absolutely fantastic and delicious and was one of the best meals that I have ever had in a restaurant and the suggested wine went extremely well with the meal. the cost was extremely reasonable and I will definitely go back to Sharkeys again.
it's been almost a year since the last visit here. The spot is still prime for Ladner. It is right adjacent to an arm of the river leading from Richmond, which means it's an ideal spot for boaters to stop in for a drink or a meal. But that's where the charm ends. The food has just not improved in the past year and in fact the cod bites and coconut shrimp we had were just abysmal. While service was pleasant and the site is nice, the food is a huge negative here. It must not bother the locals because the restaurant is still in business. We visited Sharkey's while visiting friends in Ladner. There is a lot of seating inside however it was a beautiful evening so we chose a table on the patio. They had a good selection drinks. The menu had a nice variety. I had the two piece halibut dinner which was at market price $25.99 The halibut was done in a light breading and was tasty. The fries were very good. The staff were very friendly and efficient.
Another enjoyable visit to Sharkey's. Fish and Chips were delicious in the light panko coating and one of the party had the Alfredo pasta which was delicious also. The only disappointment was the coleslaw which is not the traditional creamy style but on the dry side and lacking flavour. We still enjoyed our meals and will definitely be back soon.A definite plus for the area.
