I ordered a cake for my husband’s 50th Birthday having perused their website and deciding on a cake in the shape of the number 50 to mark this momentous occasion. The girl that took my order asked for a message and knowing that space would be limited, I decided on a short message. She asked me whether I wanted a photo which I had not considered due to the design of the cake but then decided to add this also. I paid for the cake. I collected the cake today and to my horror it was simply just a square cake with no 50! This place proves you may have money but it don’t buy class. For many years we’ve ordered our Christmas desserts the pavlova is quite good, the sponge cake is excellent and the lemon meringue pie is truly awful rubbish apart from the meringue topping. All the dessert, cake and pastry prices really are really top dollar for what is largely industrially processed, cheap fat and cheap sugar no butter in sight in most pastries. Their butter shortbread at £4 has butter but M&S is far better quality, less ingredients and far cheaper a local bakery should be able to beat M&S on prices hands down. Came in to have lunch with my husband, we had passed by a few time but this time we decided to go in. What a wonderful surprise awaited us the interior was beautiful and homely the staff were lovely and attentive, now onto the food, after we ordered we didn’t have long to wait and when it arrived it was hot delicious and judging by the amount of people inside I’m not alone in thinking that. The bakery itself was well stocked with some amazing looking cakes and buns although after lunch we were too stuffed to try any of them. Will definitely be back to try them cakes with a nice cuppa, keep up the good work girls and boys your the reason why this is a great place to visit
Ate here at the weekend. Had the steak sandwich and it was brilliant. Excellent value at only 10.95. The steak itself was more like sirloin you could eat it on its own. Too often with a steak sandwich restaurants serve stringy bits and you never know how much steak or fat is there. Not the case with the shelbourne. Also the chips are lovely. For finishing....we had the Pride Cupcake! Kudos to the chef who made us 3 when we were having our meal as they were all sold out behind the counter

We were driving from Newcastle to Dublin and we stopped in Newry for lunch. We popped into the Shelbourne. What a great menu. There is something for everyone! Our waiter Niall couldn't have been friendlier or nicer. We told him we were heading to Dublin and he recommended the Shelbourne Hotel for afternoon tea. That was the best thing we did in Dublin so thank you Niall! The food was delicious, large portions and friendly service. We left happy and content!
Always a great place to eat. This place is always busy with customers from early morning but there is enough staff to tend to every table. The staff are always polite and attentive and once the order is given the wait for food is minimal. The food is always excellent. My only complaint would be the limited amount of gluten free food available. In saying that, this restaurant probably has a better range than most others in the town.
We had one full turkey and ham dinner with all the trimmings and one burger with onions and side salad . This was exactly what we were needing and served perfectly and at a reasonable price. Have no hesitation in recommending this restaurant.
Had a lovely lunch here recently. Staff are so friendly and efficient and work so hard. Food is always lovely and tasty, and good value. Lovely to go somewhere that the staff are always plesent.

Great food,especially the scones. Wouldn't get a scone from anywhere else. Actually, all their bakery food is delicious. Always get birthday cakes for family here. Deliciousness guaranteed
