Short's Burger Shine

I stopped into this place a few days ago. The burger itself was good, but the lettuce was weird and wilted. I had to pull some of it off. Just had kind of an odd texture to it. Allegedly there were caramelized onions on it. I think I saw some, but could not taste them. Fairly average burger for an above average price. The fries would have been great with less salt. Hand cut and perfectly cooked, then ruined with what seemed to be a cup of salt. The server was all right, but seemed to be more interested in her phone than anything else. I had to get up and let her know I was ready to go and wanted to pay as she seemed so detached from her job. Over all, an okay experience. I doubt I'll return....

Tough review to write but Short’s food quality has absolutely fallen off since the glory days. We used to come here exclusively for the cheese fries, but they switched from real, stretchy cheddar cheese to what tasted like starchy velveeta from a bag. Burger was ok, but they randomly put bacon on my Colo even though it’s not supposed to be. They also switched from 1 big, juicy burger to 2 small, dry patties. Kept it at 2 stars because the waitress was great and Shorts sauce is still fire.

Underseasoned, Overcooked, overpacked, and ok quality beef covered up with a bunch of creative ingredients. Think McDonald 's Quarter Pounder without the speed or affordability. How this place has a reputation as a good burger place is mind boggling. It all starts with the meat anf these guys have no idea what a good patty looks like.

Had a great burger and a great time! Efficient and attentive staff, top-notch burgers. Edit: Came back another time over a year later, WOW! Still the same perfect burger and PHENOMENAL service. The staff is awesome! Seriously one of my favorite burger joints anywhere in America, and I've tried a lot! Réservez une table maintenant

The place was a little small, counters were dirty, the burger was well seasoned but over cooked. The bar tender was great, the beers she suggested were really good. It could be a great spot thats in a great location.

It is a burger place with a great bar. What else could you ask for in a place that has burger in the name? Unfortunately there is no longer a shine , but historically there was on the building.

One of, if not the best burgers in Iowa City. A decent value for the quality of the hamburger. Would have rated 5 stars, but the cheese curds appetizers were overcooked and greasy.

The best burgers in Iowa City by far! I had the Dundee and subbed Swiss cheese for American. The fried egg was cooked perfectly and the garlic aioli is amazing! Réservez une table maintenant

Pretty cool place for grabbing dinner and a drink while watching a game, but the burger itself kinda left me underwhelmed.
