I want to leave a better rating but this place is so hit and miss and inconsistent that it's just not possible to go higher than 3. I've had 1-star experiences and 5-star experiences so I figured 3-stars was fair. This place is nice. Very cozy, very well laid out, very welcoming. I'd go so far as to say it's the nicest pub in town. Heck, maybe even the nicest pub in Norfolk. Now the inconsistency part..... There's always just one thing wrong when I go here. And I've been here many many times. One time the service will suck, one time the beer is flat, one time your order is wrong, one time it takes way too long to get your food, one time your food straight up is not good and so on. This was our favourite place for Friday supper. Things have changed. Fish dinner was cool, as were the fries. For the first time in my life I asked to have the food set back to the kitchen (fish) to be warmed and then it came crispy critters. Inedible. I Left 75% of my meal behind and was given a full credit on the meal! All of this effectively ruined my evening leaving hungry and pissed off. I will not be returning any time soon. There were signs of business stress and I wonder how long these guys may be open! There were significant fewer people there than other nights, however the serving staff were extremely stressed with the work load.
This pub has great atmosphere and creative offerings such as the spicy mushroom and rice soup of the day I had with my Lake Erie Perch crispy Po'Boy. I wish there was a little less drippy mayonnaise on my Po'Boy but other than that, pretty good. The mushroom and rice soup is unlike any I've tasted before and came with plenty of mushrooms. My oldest girl ordered Steak Pie with mashed potatoes and it actually came with its own gravy boat! My youngest enjoyed a hearty spaghetti and meatballs and hubby got Bangers and Mash. This is a decent pub if you are driving through Simcoe.
This place is awesome! Their menu is large and full of variety. I always have a tough time deciding what I want to eat because everything looks and sounds so good. You'll find things on the menu from Pad Thai and curry to burgers and pizzas. Their panzerotti are worth the money with the size you get. The service is great and it seems to always he busy so making a reservation is a good idea. The atmosphere is very casual and great for families. I've been here 3 times already and will visit everytime I am in the Simcoe area. Réservez une table maintenant
Ate there for the first time and probably will not be returning. Ordered pizza and wings. While the wings were average the pizza was sub par. We didn't order thin crust but it was cooked to the point that it was beyond crispy and almost to the burnt stage. Asked for light sauce and it looked like the exact opposite of that. Again wings were average and definitely not good enough to bring me back.
The food is excellent, although the portion sizes may not be the most budget-friendly for the price. However, depending on your choices, you can expect to leave satisfied for around $40. The staff is friendly, and the ambiance is pleasant. It would be better if the bar and dining areas were a bit more separated, especially for families with kids.
The drink selection is impressive, and the menu offers a variety of options (slightly pricey, but that's common these days). While the service could be quicker, keep in mind that you're at a sit-down restaurant, so it's not something to complain about. Overall, it's a solid local pub.
