Smoke's Poutinerie

To start: I did not eat the food, I can not give a proper review of the food because I would not normally eat here.My girlfriend wanted poutine so we stopped in, the place is completely dead. Guy behind the counter is sitting with his legs up listening to his Ipod (no big deal, I understand when its dead you have to keep yourself entertained) I thought the price she paid for a small poutine was pretty high, but who knows that could be what these things run.Guy behind the counter rings her up and goes to the back to make the food, not once did he stop to wash his hands, not wearing gloves or even wear a hair net. Really poor experience! Started with being over-charged, and then short changed ... followed by having the poutine dumped upside down from one box to another (so all the toppings ended up on the bottom), and when questioning about it, was told "who cares, people mix it up anyway" and then tossed a box on the counter for me to flip it back up myself. After staring at him in disbelief, he seemed quite disgruntled as he dumped it back upright into a new box (3rd box) with toppings such as guacamole being left behind and lost with each transfer. Seriously great poutine! Quality ingredients and the variety of additional toppings is great.....but......Smokes is designed for take-out, and when you take-out fries, they turn into a soggy mess. You 'can' eat in....there are a few tables (seats for about 10) but it's dark and dirty and uncomfortable. They need to make their atmosphere more inviting so I can enjoy fresh poutine instead of the soggy mess I end up with when I take it home. I think I'll limit my visits to when the weather is nice enough to eat outside at the downtown picnic tables.

Smoke's poutine is honestly the best drunk food one could ever get. It is filling, and delicious, and instantly makes you feel so so much better. The workers there are all so kind too. They are super chill for being able to deal with a bunch of drunk hooligans and never fail to smile and greet you warmly. They have the patience of a god. Réservez une table maintenant

Ordered the rib poutine to go as a to go...got back to parking spot at train station and discovered poutine was lukewarm and curds were cold. No problem with returning to Smokes and getting it rewarmed but this shouldnt happen on a simple dish like this with no line up. Even Pierres is more consistent

Every time I've been to this location, I've been disappointed. The vegetarian gravy is just salty beyond belief, employees are lethargic, etc. I haven't been in quite some time, and I'm a huge poutine fan.

Friendly service, very helpful and patient with us, fresh food,awesome quality and taste. We'll be back! We got the double pork and the regular with bacon. Hit the spot!

This reeks of 'franchise'. The gravy has an overpowering taste (sage? Thyme?) and the curds were ice cold. For REAL poutine, go down the street to Pierre's. Réservez une table maintenant

Excellent ingredients. Well prepare. Location could be cleaner. Staff is laid back and friendly. Overall the experience is a good one

Great fries, decent gravy but the cheese curds (and that's what poutine is all about) were noticeably lacking.
