I hadn't visited Smokey's since their location on the 495, but I recently discovered they have a spot on Veterans in San Juan, TX, so we decided to stop by for lunch. The food here is always fantastic! The chips and salsa are consistently delicious. We ordered the fajita plate, and it did not disappoint! We sat on the side of the restaurant right as you walk in, while the other side was packed with diners. And there's a good reason for that—the food is absolutely amazing!
The food here is quite good, and the service is enjoyable as well. However, be prepared for some serious digestive aftermath—you might want to have a toilet handy afterward! I honestly had a great time dining, but I found myself considering investing in a bidet that day. Don't forget to wear some sturdy underwear, too! I've tried many BBQ spots in the RGV, but none have put my stomach to the test quite like Smokey's.
You all need to have more pride with your chicken BBQ. We bought over $70 of BBQ plates and your chicken looked like it was oven baked. I know it was for a fundraiser but come on have some pride with your product! Totally disappointed.

You cant go wrong with Smokeys. Love their potatoe salad they serve with meals. Love the taste that their chicken has. Perfectly cooked and crispy skin
The beef ribs were juicy and exceptional. The bean and potato salad on the side were just as tasty! It’s definitely worth the trip, everyone!
I have waited a long time to taste this place. It was not worth the wait. Meat was dry no flavor.
