"On a cold cold Vancouver night we stopped by with our out of town guest to try their Mahjong dessert (coconut pudding and red bean pudding). Ok. This was SO cute. Pricey but it was irresistible. We also had their hot black sesame soup which yummy. Will be back to try some more of their signature desserts."

Although we are in Vancouver, we are lucky we are still be able to taste some Hong Kong snacks, street food and desserts here. <br/ <br/ We ordered a bowl of hot steamed milk custard, a wooden bucket tofu for two, VitaSoy milk with red bean bulldog (cold), and a dish of curry fish balls/fish tofu, Sui mai, and rice rolls. All of them tasted excellent! One thing they could improve on was to decrease the sugar in the steam milk custard. It was extremely sweet. We wish the dish of curry fish balls/fish tofu, Sui mai, and rice roll would be a little bit bigger. We paid the same price at Aberdeen Food Court but the portion was so much more and it tasted excellent as well. <br/ <br/ We got here ar...

Snackshot is a Hong Kong style dessert shop that just opened up recently. I'm loving the dessert places in the marpole area. We are very fortunate to have desserts like this that basically taste as close as it gets to Hong Kong.<br/ <br/ If you order any bulldog drink, the server will ask if your taking a photo. If so you get a bottle cup holder. The Coke and lemonade was alright, but I think I would enjoy the red bean one next time.<br/ <br/ The wooden bucket tofu is comforting. You can adjust the sweetness for yourself with the syrups and sugar provided, but my favourite is the ginger syrup. I would love to come back and try their dessert platter. Alot of people ordered this at every table...

After dinner, we were craving something sweet, so we decided to go to Snackshot for some classic Hong Kong style dessert: . This was their glutinous rice balls with sesame paste, in a ginger soup. Pretty good ratio of sesame paste filling to exterior:. We also had the hot almond paste dessert (top bowl with white substance), and a hot ginger tea (bottom glass of orange substance):

At Snackshot, they serve simple snacks, mostly desserts like Tangyuan or Tofu Pudding in Wood Bucket, representing the Cantonese street flavours where you could get in Hong Kong or Guangzhou. They also have savoury items like fish balls on skewers with curry sauce. The price is reasonable for a taste of authenticity.
