Great food and surroundings. Seems to be family run and the locals need to get behind this restaurant as this is some of the best Japanese I have had. A fantastic range of food on offer and is so fresh and prepared with great care and organised beautifully on your plate, it's like eating an artwork that leaves your mouth dancing with flavours.I'm going now after writing this.
Mid-week dinner with 6 friends was excellent evening with all happy with their individual choices: Tempura prawns, Bento box, chilli soft-shell crab (different for Japanese restaurant, but very good and pushes limit of heat for many), Teriyaki grilled salmon, fried rice...all good.BYO catered for and water continuously refreshed without requesting.
Restaurant is located in a light industrial area in Pymble - an unusual location.Very clean and modern.Food was very good and reasonably priced. Menu contained a mixture of traditional Japanese and more modern Japanese food.Saw a lot of Japanese customers eating there - a good sign.Definitely go back again.
This is the third time I've had Japanese food in 30 years , went with family who chose the food for us ,the menu here is extensive ,the food was well presented and so fresh and tasty ,the staff friendly and a great location with plenty of parking the evening was lovely ,will certainly be returning there.. OK, the menu is typically Japanese - sushi, tempura etc ... but they do really good things with it. Not typical but very flavoursome and the presentation cannot be faulted.This could be our new go to local restaurant --- BYO and great food. The service was great as well.What more could you want?
The food might not be very traditional Japanese one but it is very good. Location is sort of 'hidden' but since we discovered it just before Christmas we eat there several times. Service is fast and all waitresses are nice. You could eat out on the veranda or inside and it is quite roomy.
As locals we eat at Ikura once a month. Their quality is consistently excellent. It is the only restaurant we can say this about after 4 years living in Pymble and we have eaten at most of the others in a 5 km radius several times.
Unusual location for dinner restaurant, but refreshing, with option for dinning on open terrace with NO traffic noise! Interesting menu with plenty of variety. Réservez une table maintenant
I often go to Ikura for a quick lunch with colleague. The food is reasonably priced, good quality and good service.
