Received a delivery last night, the first time I’ve used this restaurant. I’m afraid to say it’s not for me. We had a lamb tikka masala, chilli chicken masala, both violent red colour, with pilau rice, mushroom fried rice and a portion of chips. The food wasn’t bad and the portions were fine and my wife said hers was “ok”. Mine was “ok” too, however I would expect a chilli chicken to have a certain strength, which is why I ask for chillies! Extremely mild with it seemed a background taste of coconut, an ingredient I wouldn’t put int a masala sauce. I did find 3 small chillies in the meal. Pilau rice appeared to be boiled rice with some colouring, no cassia, cloves or cardamom flavours at all...
I recently dined at Sonali on Sutton Avenue and ordered takeout on 30/11/18. Unfortunately, I was disappointed with the food. The sauces in three different dishes all looked the same, as if they had been blended together. The bhuna was supposed to be a drier dish, but it was more like slop. The Korahi and Balti Chicken Tikka Massala also had the same sauce, which resembled tomato soup from a tin. The poppadoms were not crispy, and the Bombay potato was overcooked and mushy. I hadn’t had a take away from Sonali for about 20yrs because I moved out of the area. However I’m back now I really fancied a curry tonight so went on line to find a take away that not only delivered but that I could also order and pay for online and Sonali Balti was the only local one that I could find. Delivery was stated as 60mins which was a bit disappointing as I was so hungry but I went ahead and ordered anyway. To my delight it was delivered 30mins later by a very polite young man. I picked up a large takeaway from Sonali on a Saturday night and the food quality was fantastic as always, with no complaints. However, I ordered 2 biryanis and only received one portion of vegetable curry. The curry had a lot of potato and very little sauce, which had to be shared between two people, resulting in a dry dish. Sonali has great food, but they should double check orders before giving them to customers. I will be sure to check my orders myself from now on.

I always order from this restaurant because it has the best tasting curry I've had since moving to Coventry 5 years ago. I highly recommend trying the North Indian garlic chilli chicken - it's a 5-star dish in my book. My wife also loves this place. We have a hard time finding places that we both absolutely love, but this is one place we both agree on. You have to give it a try!
Foods average, but don't ring and tell them your orders wrong. The man who took my order had to ask my postcode 4 times, but of curse he to my order down correctly and I was completely in the wrong!! Ruined our birthday celebration and will not be using them again!!
Friendly helpful staff who provided us with a delicious takeaway and spoons to eat it with! Huge variety on the menu and the rogan Josh and balti that we chose were really tasty. Would definitely order from here again if we were in the area.
Me and my boyfriend ordered a take away, the food was lovely nice and hot and tasted good ! Also go free popadoms and free Bombay potatoes
