When our pasta dishes were served, my Asian friend suggested we share them. To our surprise, the server replied with a comment about it not being a Chinese restaurant and that we don't share here. While he may have intended to be funny, it came off as completely inappropriate and left us feeling uncomfortable. As for dessert, we didn’t order any because the server hurried us along again, reminding us about the kitchen closing time. Lastly, there was no hook or small table in the restroom to place our handbags, forcing us to either hold them or set them on the floor. My husband, an executive chef with 16 years of experience in the restaurant industry, found it shocking that I was made aware...
Very, very nice experience! We did a double date with some friends of ours at this small, wife and husband owned BYOB. The atmosphere was rich in quality. You can smell the aromas of food as you walk up to the establishment. It is small, but that added to the experience for me! This is the only Sontuosa and I like finding restaurants that aren't franchised. The menu is compact, which is great because you can focus on putting out quality products. First time to this BYO in Bryn Mawr. The service was very good and we had some nice conversations with the hostess, the waiter, and the owner (he is a gem). Unfortunately the food was good, but unremarkable. Nothing overtly creative or unique that would differentiate the preparation. The meatballs were lukewarm and needed some seasoning. The bread was likely from the local grocery store. My pappardelle with shrimp and cauliflower was very good. My dessert with strawberries and whipped cream infused with ginger was light and tasty. We will likely give them another try. This was a busy Saturday night where they had to crowd the outdoor guests into the restaurant because of weather.
I visited this restaurant on my birthday and thoroughly enjoyed every course. The appetizers were unique and delicious, making for an interesting start to the meal. The entree portions were generous, ensuring that I wouldn't leave hungry. It's also a BYOB establishment, which is a nice touch. I definitely look forward to returning for more. The staff were incredibly helpful and made me feel right at home. I believe the prices were reasonable, though it was my birthday, so my children covered the bill! Réservez une table maintenant
? Sontuosa Bryn Mawr Lovely al fresco dining tonight and my little dude got to watch trains go by. We had the grilled calamari, meatballs, fresh bread with sweet fresh ricotta, chicken, Salmon, branzino, aubergine eggplant with ground lamb and chocolate mousse layer cake and blueberry crumble. Our favorites were the chocolate layer cake and grilled calamari... so nice to see it prepared a different way besides fried. Mary Guzman and Ernesto Guzman are so welcoming and friendly as well.
For our appetizer, we enjoyed a Caesar salad with prosciutto, which was delicious. My husband ordered mussels in a white sauce for his main dish, while I had the flatbread special of the day, which featured figs and goat cheese—simply perfect! We also had bread served with ricotta cheese and olive oil as a pre-dinner treat, which left us too full for dessert. You won’t be disappointed dining here, and the fact that it’s a BYOB is an added bonus. We look forward to going back soon!
Such a jewel of a restaurant on the Main Line. We were treated like family and appreciate the attention we received. We literally felt like VIPs. (No personal connection to the restaurant) The pork was delicious and the bronzino was so tasteful. The beet salad was excellent with the perfect amount of dressing and taste. Take the blueberry home. Nice evening sitting outside. The staff really works hard to make sure everyone is happy. Can't wait to go back. Reminder: BYOB!!
