Came here on Saturday night for dinner with friends. It was busy, this place wastes no space. You sit very close to other tables and there is no ambiance, kind of feels like a fast food restaurant. To be fair, this restaurant is very clean. We shared 2 appetizers. Both of them tasted identical. Essentially they were arugula salads with slightly varying ingredients. One of them had a small cylinder of cheese, which tasted like mascarpone. The other salad had some boiled beets and orange slices.Later when I got my entree, it also came with the same arugula salad. I feel like the waiter could have warned us that all these dishes have the same salad, I would have ordered something else. Servings...
Our first time in this restaurant.The décor is very nice. Service was excellent. I ordered the “duetto” which included 1 (ONE) piece of lamb chops and two prawns. Chops were excellent, prawns just okay. The price? $45!! The portion was not very big even for me (and I’m not a big eater).My wife ordered fish at $26 which was just okay. Again, pretty small portion for the price.We ended up with a $92 bill (including tip and tax) for two relatively small main dishes, with no appetizers, dessert, alcohol or even soft drinks. Based on a friend's recommendation, we thought Sorrento North would be a nice place for a family dinner - a rare occasion when all of us were in town. We went on a weeknight and it was lovely. While there were other people dining, the restaurant was quiet. Having recently travelled in Italy, we're still in an Italian frame of mind, and Sorrento North was perfect. The food was authentic and tasty. The portions were sized so that you were able to try more than one course. The pasta was fresh - not the out-of-the-box type you get at some restaurants. All of our food looked/tasted fresh, seasonal and much of it was locally sourced. The service was excellent. I can't believe such a gem was hidden...
First time at this restaurant, dinner with a group of friends.Positive - service is excellent and attentive. Otherwise, it is very overpriced for what you get. The restaurant, located in a commercial unit, felt lackluster, tables set very tight, more like cafeteria with tablecloths. Lacking ambiance, expected from a higher-end restaurant. Burrata cheese was fantastic; antipasti and calamari just average. Mains (fish, pasta, lamb chops) were small-to-very small size unlike most other Italian or Mediterranean restaurants. "Salmon pasta" was least tasty, with small flakes of over-salted fish. We did not want to complain to our excellent waiter, but left a bit confused about how pricey Sorrento...
Sorrento is fast becoming the most sought after reservation in the GTA North. The food is carefully prepared, predictably delicious and served by friendly and attentive staff. The owner Nino always comes by your table during the meal to greet you and make sure your dining experience was up to his high standard. Be sure to ask him to recommend a wine from the Amalfi coast, where he originated. We enjoyed the Greco, a light, citrusy delight. A visit to Sorrento North will also not break the bank as prices are reasonable for a high quality dining experience.
