Travelling with hungry hyped tastebuds, we made our way to Semaphore on a suggestion of my fine foodie mate who, being a pre Semaphorian, frequented this iconic establishment many times over, so yeh, he knows what he is talking about! To begin with, we ordered our food and I mentioned to the semi friendly guy behind the counter, could please have some lemon with my order? That will be 80 cents please, fair enough, I thought, until I opened the bag and it was a tiny wedge of lemon! Yesterday friends of ours who had moved from Sydney told us that Soto's was the best fish and chip shop in all of Adelaide. So today we wanted to have fish and chips for dinner and decided to drive to Semaphore for the best F&C's in town. Sorry to say but we were disappointed with 2 things: 1) I asked for some lemon and the cook yelled out to the lady working near by: "maa, can you cut half a lemon for this order?" I thought it was for free, as all F&C shops that we've gone to in Sydney provide you with a few lemon wedges for free. To my surprise I had to buy half a lemon which cost me $1.60...of course I bought it but it didn't give me a good vibe. Also the lemon I got given,...

We headed to Sotos on the busiest night of the year that being Christmas Eve for fish and chips on the beach. There was a line out the door but we were happy to wait. We ordered 2 pieces of flake and minimum chips as well as pineapple fritters. The food was delicious and the batter was crispy and light. The chips were crispy and well seasoned with chicken salt. Apparently they're hand cut chips and they were very tasty. The pineapple fritters were sugary and sweet with a hint of cinnamon. The staff were super friendly and accommodating despite the masses of people. We were told that George has recently sold up and new owners are in but so far all seems to continue to be good. The only fish & chips shop I will ever go to when heading to the beach. The fish & chips were not oily or greasy, the batter was nice and crispy and everything was just as good as every other time I've been (too many to count!). One small complaint was a little too much salt on the chips, but nothing that couldn't be fixed with a bit of a shake of the chips. Thanks guys, will be back soon!
Where do you start? Sotos is amazing, hand cut chips! Decent range of takeaways like hamburgers, fish, chips and snacks! Prices are pretty decent considering what you get and the location!Although it gets very very busy especially on hot days! Quite often out the door but the wait is worth it! Make sure you try them
We bought a variety of food here - flake, calamari, steak sandwich and of course their fresh cut chips. All 4 of us loved the food. Cooked to perfection and seasoned well. Shop is ultra clean too which makes a nice change for a fish'n'chip shop!! Highly recommend Réservez une table maintenant
