I recently took my mom, who eats everything, to South Causey Inn for afternoon tea. While it was nice that there was a vegan option available, the quality of it left much to be desired, especially considering the £20 price tag. The portion sizes were smaller than the non-vegan options, but I was aware of this when booking. The battered mushrooms with mayo were tasty, but the sandwiches (BBQ jackfruit, hummus and cucumber, hearty) were average at best, with the hummus being particularly unappealing. The pear and walnut salad was good, although the strawberries were supposed to be chocolate-dipped but weren't, and the lemon cake was missing altogether. The baked goods (fruit and banana cake) h...

I took my omnivore mum for afternoon most recently in south causey inn. although it was great that there was a vegan option, the quality of it was really disappointing, especially given it costs £20. the products contained were less than the other options, but I knew that if we booked, I guess it could take a little more up and take time for the preparation of vegan food. the broken mushrooms with mayo were delicious. the sandwiches (bbq jackfruit, hummus and gurke, hearty) were ok, the hummus was not very nice. pear and tweebelsalat was good. the strawberries should be dipped in chocolate, but were not and the lemon cake was not present. the baked were (fruit and banana cake) were terrible!...

Before lockdown, this restaurant had a nice and varied vegan menu. However, since reopening, there are only four options on the main menu, two of which are salads. I tried the superfood salad, which was delicious and a good portion size the first time. The next week, it was smaller and £2 more expensive, with some ingredients missing. After complaining, I received a small amount of extra ingredients, but the salad was still disappointing. Two weeks later, I tried the only other vegan option, a Feta cheese salad, which was also disappointing and not worth the price of £14.95. It seems like the restaurant doesn't put in much effort for their vegan customers. I used to love eating here, but I w...

I had a pleasant afternoon at the South Causey Inn yesterday. Anyone who thinks vegans are missing out is mistaken. I had plenty of delicious food, including a warm pear salad, rocket, red pepper and cherry tomato salad, a plate of bruschetta with various toppings, jackfruit sandwiches, pickles, coleslaw, two scones, chocolate cake, sorbet, fresh fruit, macarons, and chocolate-covered strawberries.
