I have always been hesitant about restaurants with limited menus, fearing that I wouldn't find anything to enjoy. However, Southern National showed me that a small menu can mean perfectly executed dishes. Located in downtown Mobile, this restaurant encourages diners to try new things and fall in love with them. The menu has changed since my visit, but I can attest to the deliciousness of the Smoked Wings we ordered as an appetizer. They were some of the best wings I've ever had. For dinner, I tried the pan-seared salmon with Brussel sprouts, which was surprisingly delicious. My problem with Southern National is their food plating station located in the dining room within six feet of our table. The staff were drizzling and garnishing food with their faces inches away from it. They wore no masks or gloves. This was on Saturday, March well after news of was widespread. I’m afraid a lot of folks in Alabama aren’t taking the situation seriously. But even without the current health threat, I’d still have a problem with the setup I witnessed.

This place is horrible. Servers hate their job, the owners are arrogant and dishonest, debt mongers and the place was built on lies- It is a house of cards.Reggie and Duane are just normal everyday crooks stealing from anyone who can make their dream come true!Stay away, soon once they go to Atlanta to Georgia Avenue in Summerhill, they will screw that owner too until they move on to the next venue.

Chef Duane Nutter offers a dining experience that competes with some of the best restaurants I have visited. He possesses a talent for combining unique foods and flavors to delight and inspire. The attentive staff provides exceptional service with a focus on detail and a willingness to accommodate. Overall, Southern National provides a fantastic dining experience. I have seen the Excellent presentations on my friends page and my husband worked in the Culinary field, we were very displeased with the Salmon dish 3oz salmon asparagus cut in half pinch of kale $28 per dish. I hope the pandemic is the problem and not the Chef.

The food here was spectacular. They serve familiar dishes, but done so well that you'll be talking about it all week. It also felt very cool to have a famous award winning chef just a few feet away expoing orders. The service was very efficient and friendly.

Restaurants like this are why I love food. the plating was beautiful and the food was top tier best shrimp and grits I've ever had and also best cheesecake I've ever had.
