Okay, I'm just trying to check when a place is great, but this pub was bad every time I was here, so it's gonna get an assessment. about the 5 years I was in thebarton, I tried this pub at 4 times, and every time it was bad. I have seen the owners scream at mozens, fight and call themselves all kinds of names behind the bar, pull frozen supermarket pizza from a freezer and sell them as "home made", the owner sitting at the bar reeking of marihuana and fighting, sitting on a chair, and were spoken so rudely in the bottle shop when they ask what they were cold. every time I give it to people with a bad day everyone has but after this place there are so many chances and so many similar layers o...
This restaurant has gone through many changes over the years. I even remember when it briefly tried to attract more customers by having a tittie bar stage on Friday nights, but those days are long gone. Despite being an older pub, the interior photos showcase the evolving landscape of Adelaide. I found myself particularly captivated by a map of Adelaide from the early 1900s displayed on the wall. It's a decent pub, good for a quick drink after work, but maybe not the best place to linger for an extended period. They also have outdoor seating for smokers to enjoy their drinks.
Was a bit worried about the reviews of the food here but they're unwarranted. We had some entrees, mains and a cheese platter. All great stuff. Especially the steak, perfectly cooked good quality cut. Schnitty was huge. Had a couple of things on the menu...for the more health conscious too (some salads, some lighter dishes). Only thing I would say is it doesn't cater to the hipster trendy types: if you're veggo or any other type of dietary requirement then your options are pretty limited. Drinks are well priced and the service was fantastic
I had dinner at this restaurant and found that they serve delicious pub food at affordable prices. The chef is willing to make unique dishes like lambs fry and crumbed brains, and their $10 sirloin steak special on Thursdays is a fantastic deal. While it may not be fancy, it offers great value. The pub, which used to have a dodgy reputation, is now family-owned and operated and provides a refreshing change from the more upscale establishments in the inner Adelaide area.
