Went to this restaurant for valentines dinner. Was greeted by the pizza maker asking if we had reservations. He then yelled to a confused looking lady. Who sat us in the back. ... Thought this would be an quaint nice little no gimmick Italian dinner. .. like every Italian restaurant in the area. It seemed to lack atmosphere. Little things. Like lighting & decor. To make it give off a better feel. We were seated beside a half wall. With led pot lights shining down on us. No real mood setting. Then we were served by a hectic looking server. This restaurant is by far jarred Italian food.... If you don't know or appreciate home made Italian food then don't come to this place. If your used to preservatives in your food and from grocery store or eastside Marios then this place is NOT for you. I know the owners personally and people like complaining ! They are a family owned restaurant and if you knew the chef-and old Italian lady then you would know every dish takes time to prepare and is made by her own hands ! Appreciate it or don't bother coming! Every dish takes time to make as it's made right when you order it so don't be in a rush but appreciate the food your getting! Stopped in here because of the advertised wood oven pizza which we saw from a great restaurant we visit across the street. We've had wood fire pizza in other restaurants and really enjoy it. Here, not so much. We ordered 2 pizza's and Caesar salad for my wife and daughter to share. The pizza's were small for the price and took 40 minutes to get and the salad was a small bowl for $8 (not worth it). I could understand if the place was packed but we were the only ones there besides 1 other couple. A true wood fired pizza oven should only take 90 seconds or so to cook a pizza so I'm not sure of the delay unless they just lit the fire. We started with the fried ravioli, which was absolutely delicious. The marinara dipping sauce was lovely and refreshing, not overly salty like many others. The ricotta had a pleasantly spicy kick that we really enjoyed. Our pizzas were fantastic, with my husband particularly loving his Nutella pizza. Overall, it was a lovely restaurant with exceptional service and delicious food at reasonable prices. There are many Italian restaurants in the area, but this one definitely stands out as one of the best. The aroma from the wood oven that hits you as soon as you walk in is simply irresistible. The food was very good, but the service not good. The owner came over and she was amazing, but the waitress did not know answers to some of our questions and we could see her texting on her phone when should be making sure everything is good. There was 3 couples and the food did not come out all at the same time as she made an error on 1 order. Again nonna in the kitchen did a great job with the meal as it was very good.
Friends met up at Spasso in Stoney Creek. It was great, service was good. Very friendly & atmosphere was nice. We ordered Pizza Norma made in the wood burning oven for an appetizer and we both had the traditional pasta bolognese dishes. Nice portions we couldn't finish. Prices are well within reason. My friends highly recommended this family restaurant and I have now recommended it too. Great place & good food!
