I stayed at Lodge Sax during the recent Paragliding World Cup in Disentis. The hotel was the HQ for the event, and the manager, Alexander Dalucas, was efficient, friendly and always willing to help. The lodge is located an easy walk from the Gendusas gondola and has great views from many of the rooms up the valley opposite to Piz Medel, one of the higher peaks of the Leopontine Alps.The staff were friendly and nothing was too much trouble. Breakfast was a simple affair of muesli, yoghurt, juice, bread, cheese and cold meat - the usual European buffet. We used only the restaurant facilities as we did not stay there. My kids had ski lessons so this is a perfectly convenient place to wait them or to watch them learning. Also after lessons it is sunny the whole afternoon to be sorted outside. The only unfortunate thing is the fact the staff do not speak German at all or speak limited German in its majority so our orders came often, if not always, wrong at first. They are also very helpful and comprehensive so we always could get what we really ordered and not what the waiter guessed. I understand the concept is. Swedish lodge in the Swiss Alps however, a minimum local language ability to collect the orders would be expected. Or put the waiter...
We stayed at Lodge Sax and had the opportunity to try the restaurant 2 times during our stay. First evening (arrival night) we tried their Elkhamburger which was very tasty. Great variety of Swiss and Swedish dishes. Toast Skagen, Meatballs with classic sides to name some great Swedish dishes. Good variety for kids as well although it was not in the same level as the normal menu. Some fine tuning on the service would lift the overall experience even more. However with its great location near the main gondola - its for sure worth to pass by and grab something to eat!
Wir haben es von Einheimischen erfahren dass es fein ist im Sax. Wir haben es auch gleich ausprobiert. Es ist eine herrliche Terrasse und die Kinder haben eine grosse Wiese zum Spielen. Eine Rutschbahn hat es auch. Der Service ist sehr nett und herzlich. Die Speisen sehr fein. Man findet von schweizerischer und schwedischer Kost sehr viel. Wir haben sehr fein gegessen für die Kinder ist die Küche sehr spontan. Pommes mit feinem Gemüse. Gemüse findet man in anderen Restaurant für Kinder eher selten. Fazit: lecker ,nett, schöne Aussicht, entspannung. Kommen wieder!

Das Restaurant ist praktisch direkt an der Strasse von Disentis nach Sedrun gelegen und ideal für Eltern mit kleinen Kindern im Winter (da neben der Skischule).Es besitzt eine wunderbare und ruhige Sonnenterrasse.Die Tagesmenues sind eher schweizerisch/gutbürgerlich aber gut und auch das Preis-/Leistungsverhältnis ist fair.
Our ski trip was based out of Sax Lodge and we had dinner here nightly. The food was excellent and the staff were fantastic. Each night was a new local dish that never left us wanting more. The "Pirates" all say Hi to the gang!

God middag med ok service, lite seg service men det blev bättre under middagen. Stora rejäla portioner till vettigs priser. Passa på att äta här om ni är i Disentis!
