Yes. This place is all that and a bag of chips. Normally I'm hesitant to order something off the menu that someone suggests in the review because let's get real, you can't come into town and visit a place once, order one item, and say it's the best thing on the menu gtfo. However, I am in Des Moines for a week for work and I've been here three times and can honestly say St. Kilda makes me happier than any woman ever has. The avocado toast, as many reviewers suggested, is the embodiment of true love. Go wild and get the poached egg on top and side of bacon, your mother will approve. The staff is amazing as well. Put this on your list.
Stopped in for lunch while in town for business. Service was polite and prompt from beginning to end. Having read so many positive reviews of the avocado toast, I had to try it, and I was definitely not disappointed. Some might want the bacon a little more done, but personally I don't want it super crunchy. The iced coffee was cool and refreshing on a 90° day, and not too bitter even without milk or cream. I will say it's not a cheap lunch spot, but I think the ingredients, preparation and presentation justify the price.
Go here!!! This was by far the best meal we had during our long weekend visit to Des Moines. I ordered breakfast tacos, my partner ordered the steak and eggs, and we both had mochas (with house-made chocolate syrup). The weather was glorious so we ate outside and enjoyed the morning while experiencing exceptional service from a team of incredibly wonderful humans –and got to pet some incredibly wonderful dogs, too. What a wonderful experience! We will definitely be back here when we visit this city again.
The smoked salmon tasted sour and the $3.50 burnt coffee was an embarrassment to the establishment. There was also smoke rising up out of the basement. Don’t waste your money. Perfect for a nice quick meal. The freshness of the food is amazing! Cafe style food on steroids! Great for a lunch meeting, buisness meeting, or just to relax. Not only is the food amazing but the staff is so very nice and helpfull! I cant wait to go back to this beautiful cafe! Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5
After waiting for the Men's room for 5-7 min. a cook comes out. The sink bowl was dry and he never used the loud air dryer. Very gross and a health violation. Told manager, she didn't seem concerned or tried to make it right. I think we'll stay away from this place. Food: 3 Service: 3 Atmosphere: 3
